  • Feeling a bit :(

The one person who loves me more than anyone else in the world (even when I am not very nice) has just gone home. My Mum lives 5 hours drive away right at the bottom of England (practically) and we are both terrified of motorway driving, so we never get to see each other. She's been up for the weekend, which is why I've hardly been on here, but now she's gone again. Sigh
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

Absence makes the Heart grow fonder - an' all that stuff. My Folks live a fifteen minute drive away. Near enough that neither has to stay over, but close enough that we can dog-sit for each other. Win/win!

Its good to have someone who loves you that much, even if you can't see each other as often as you'd like.
Can you go to see her on the bus or train - if you don't like motorway driving?

        Awww, that's really sad

Since we moved to France, I see more of my Mother than we ever did when we lived a couple of hours away instead of about ten hours now

The thing is that when she comes now, she stays for weeks rather than a couple of snatched hours that we used to manage. It's really hard for both of when she goes home - OH is the only winner

As VC said, perhaps you can visit by bus/coach. With all of these things, the first time is the hardest then it does get easier every time you do it. Doesn't make you feel any better at the moment though so have a cuddle from me too.

I feel for you, too. It was the hardest thing moving to France just 6 weeks after my dad died.
Sounds like you need to find another way of travelling to get together.

I consider myself really lucky to have my daughter close by (about a five minute drive or comfortable walking distance). ((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))) for you, hope you get to spend Christmas together.

Really difficult for you. How did she get to you this time? My mum is 4 hours away but since no1 son went to uni near her we see her more often. Conversely no1 son came home for the weekend for a family get together and has gone back now until Christmas so keeping myself busy this week.

I think it'll have to be a coach journey. My car is a bit temperamental and I don't need to be worrying about that as well as lorries, rubbish drivers, speed freaks and no sense of direction! Yes, we have a sat nav, but it confuses me more than my daughter with an upside map book! Also, the sat navs voice really irritates me and I spend half the journey shouting at it and mimicking it's stupid voice - the way it says round-a-bowwwwt really grates on my nerves!

I only see my daughter about 4 times a year but the time is truly precious and I make the most of every second. I understand how you feel!
