The dishwasher has an internal heater so only uses the amount of water it requires there is no waste. I don't need to clean the floor anymore I have a dog, and I have a water butt outside to water the greenhouse.

I do have 1 water extravagance and that's my kettle tap. It has boiling water ready at all times for me to use. To recover the cost of that I'd need to boil a Kettle about 10 times a day, and while I like tea and coffee I never use that much. It does save on water though.I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.Comment

Don't have a problem with recycling cans here, we can't recycle them! And I wouldn't wash them either!
Don't believe you VC, you wouldn't have a dishwasher if you didn't use it! Wud you?
I only use the dishwasher, don't know how to do 'washing up' ! Get annoyed if can't fit everything in!

To put the record straight, for you Dotty -
I wash out every can and plastic thingy and they are recycled
I do have a dishwasher
I rarely use it..............
You have to remember that its just me here and filling even a small dishwasher, takes a couple of days
