Up until last week when we had a carpet (we now have laminate) I used to hoover straight lines in the carpet. If anyone walked on it before I finished I had to start again!
We also, on the sledging theme, used sleeping bags, got inside and shot downstairs - quite terrifying, as two steps down you slide right into the sleeping bag and can't see when you are going to reach the bottom!
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

I'm an official nutter - an official 'cropper' of a nutter! I am sooooo pleased to be a cropper! Hurrah!

I periodically, once every 3-4 months, lift the manholes around the house and flush out the drains. I don't have blocked drains but I don't like the sound of having them either.

I once had a customer who used to take the side and back panels off their oven and polish and oil the fan. After 22 years it was still the cleanest used oven I've ever seen.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

I have a friend who used to pull her cooker out twice a year, and clean behind it!

I think pretty much everyone's first Hoover was a Hoover Junior, which had a massive white bottom, a tubular handle, with a zipped bag hanging on the side. When you turned it on, the bag inflated. Only posh people had any other sort of vacuum, and so 'hoovering' became the norm for most.

Sometimes I sweep the kitchen floor instead of getting the hoover out of the cupboard.

Dorothy its often quicker with the sweeping brush, plus the hoover sometimes drowns out my music I'm usually listening to.

I am not allowed to hoover.

Many years ago we had a cylinder type jobbie and I spilt some powder whilst reloading shotgun shells.

I set out to hoover it up before SWMBO's return 30 seconds later............ large bang, big flash and me stumbling round the kitchen. SWMBO was not impressed and it cost me a new hoover.

I'm 'obsessed' with my little handheld 'D....n! Down side of settees, extractor fans, I'd use it on the cat if she'd let me !

We have a little hand-held Son-of-Dy too - used to be in the Caravan - now Mr.G has stolen it for work. At least it gets used now that we no longer go caravanning.

As for sweeping; My Sister used to have laminate floors throughout the whole of the downstairs. Every day she'd sweep through with a large soft-bristled broom, and put it all under the doormat. Once a week she'd lift the mat, chuck it outside, and vacuum the pile of dirt up!
