I hope you music listening folks use ear phones etc. rather than just turning on the radio in the house loud enough to be hear outside. there is NOTHING more infuriating to me than to be forced to listen to someone else's choice of 'noise' especially when it is constantly interrupted by the banal, mindless chatter of some self important ignoramus of a presenter.
I prefer the sounds of nature.
That's where the ipod or MP3 is so handy. Having said that, I enjoy peace, quiet and birdsong very much too.
All at once I hear your voice
And time just slips away Bonnie Raitt
For sentimental reasons, I love 'Flowers in the Window' by Travis, when gardening - it was played a lot on the second series of 'How to be A Gardener' with Alan Titchmarsh; my mum was looking forward to the series starting but died the week before it started (sorry to put a bit of a dampener on the thread!)
Gardeners Question Time followed by the Sunday Play if I'm weeding/potting on in the garden on a Sunday (mp3 player - I'd be a bit embarrassed if the neighbours found out I was an Archers Addict when I stroll round the garden at 7pm )
Mr OWG will take the radio outside to listen to the football if an away game is on, but not particularly loudly.
I find radio infuriates me, as there is too much talking and not enough music
I'd like to have music on (occasionally) but I think that what I listen to would probably annoy the neighbours (although the way I am feeling about my new neighbours, re planning permission, I don't care!)

Never be afraid to try something new.
Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark.
A large group of professionals built the Titanic
I have a bit of a phobia about earphones - always think someone's behind me..! So i only have music on when I'm in the shed (mini speakers for mp3 player - great invention!). The music is extremely varied;
Richard Ashcroft (ex of the Verve)
Freestylers
Fun Lovin Criminals
Maximo Park
Neil Diamond.... (cheese i know, but great t sing along to!)
and Radio 1 for a bit of chittle-chat
Also, I have the Harry Potters on audio CDs, so they go on in rotation to keep the kids (almost) quiet!
HeyWayne, I love Pearl Jam, but my absolute favourite - Vs - is scratched to death and skips like anything on 'Elderly Woman...'. Really must buy another copy!
Music is indispensable I think, and I HATE rubbish lyrics...
I listen to loud rock music on the ten minute journey to my field but when I'm there, I listen to skylarks
And I talk to my plants all day long - not the best conversationalists in the world I'll admit, but damn good listeners
Clannad or anything celtic or folk based would be my choice, but when on the plot I dont have any music, just the osunds of nature, birds singing, the gentle rustling of leaves moved by the breeze, frogs and toads croaking from the pond, these are the sounds that I listen to, totally destressing, totally relaxing and just puts me so in touch with the land I am working upon!
