On Choose and Book the doctors sets up an account and you have to then go on, with a password and then choose from the offered hospitals.
Would only help if the Cardiff hospital is offered.
I also suspect that it is at the initial stages, the passing of you from doctor to hospital, so starts out as the initial examination/apprasial which I presume you have already been through.
Had to use it once about 8-9 months back and was unimpressed. Found I couldn't see anyone for 12 weeks and then found that whoever I would see was going to take a look and decide what it was.The doctor I saw knew exactly what it was (minor). I asked why I was waiting an additional 12 weeks for someone to repeat exactly what the GP had done and come to the same answer.Comment

Surgeons only allocate a small percentage of their slots for the NHS (in wales, anyway). Most of their work is private.
(I was working on the payment systems for NHS Wales in a previous, previous role).Comment

I've been both sides of this coin and wouldn't be surprised in the slightest. Took 2 years for surgery to my knee and 3 weeks for my hands. The thing I dislike most is the different manner you are treated as a paying customer compared to a NHS one. When I had my knee done, I queue jumped for the consultation and went NHS for the surgery, I thought the surgeon was 2 different people. A minute late for private appointment and apologised profusely, 1 hour late for the NHS pre op and not a comment from him. I don't like this approach, however you are paying and you are paying as an NHS patient you should get the same level of service but you don't.I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.Comment

They have agreed to fund it as I have had surgery previously with my surgeon and the extensive work I will need will have to be referred to Cardiff anyway so cutting out the pointless middle man

I'm so happy right now she was really apologetic and said sorry for the stress it may have caused she even said that some of the 'formalities' are totally rubbish more so when I would have ended up in Cardiff in the end anyway!
Can't blame the lady I spoke to she is the one just taking the brunt of silly decisions but she did seem to be a peoples person which lightens the blow instead of having a young arrogant know it all type person dishing bad news
