Could someone who is up on cuttings tell me if its too late to take some geranium cuttings now?

  • #2
I would be taking them about this time of the year but I am already over run with them
I should add that I'm not up on cuttings but this is just what I have done and it has worked for me. There's a thread about it somewhere - I'll have a look.

Here you go. http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...mies_9617.html Having said that, this thread was started in August but I'm pretty sure I did mine just as they were threatened with frost about this time last year.

Yeah it is. You need to take them when they're still doing some growing, so they're a little bit established with a root system before they go dormant in winter

Just wondered if cuttings could be rooted in water to give them a start. I've never done it so wouldn't know, just a thought.

I start most cuttings in water, including scented pelargoniums.
If they stay outside they'll die. If you bring them in they'll need cutting back or they'll grow leggy. So cut them back, put the cuttings in water (or compost) and see what happens

Probably a bit late now. September was the month we always took the 20,000 cuttings needed to plant out Brighton parks the following year !!!!!!
