  • Any of you / your children / OH's excited about today then?

My wife runs a breastfeeding support group where I live (very low uptake on it), and overheard a the ladies there all moaning that their partners/husbands/what not had all booked today off work to play xbox (a new version of it has been released today).

I think the new playstation was out last week (not really sure) - so any husbands/partners/kids checking for delivery whenever a van drives past? *cough* not that I am..

I just happen to be working from home today.

    *whistles*

I bet a few of them are probably on a few xmas lists!

I believe the xbox is released at midnight tonight. A friend of mine has it on pre order. I don't understand why a day off would be required unless they are weekend/shift workers.

        Big kids, I suppose.

Mine arrived - would like to hook it up, but I've got a *major* release going live on Monday, so am testing all my work today/tomorrow. Quite a lot is resting on it (i.e. the entire cash flow of the company...) so... boo !

The boy would like one for Christmas but we can't afford Christmas presents this year, so he'll have to save up for it himself.

We have a Wii and its been used a handful of occasions, so we are unlikely to be looking at them. I like games but never really get the obsessive new gadget stuff. I prefer for it to be superseeded then buy the older version when its going cheap.

I'm not into gaming myself but I remember having to get the lad the lastest gizmo every year, it cost a fortune.......I blame his mother........

This thread makes me feel so old and out of touch..................
I don't even know what an Xbox is - and don't try to tell me 'cos I'm sure I don't need to know

Do you remember Atari's VC? Gaming system that you plugged into a telly and played really clunky tennis with 2 blocks on the screen and a bleeping dot? Xbox is the evolution of that

My boys still have nostalgia days when they play Street Fighter and Sonic on the old Megadrive

I remember Ataris cos my brother had one. Didn't they etch lines on your TV screen - or summat?
I seldom watch TV - though I do play Hangman on the laptop

We've got an only Philips player that sounds similar to the Atari during ball games all the fielders move in blocks. Its up in a spare room along with the ZX 81, Vic 20, Amiga and some other stuff that's not seen the light of day for years.

Me too Sarz, we used to have an old megadrive and we used to play Sonic on it ALL the time - well into the wee small hours that, and Alex Kid (My 35 year old daughter just bought a retro PS1 with it on) I still remember the Sega tune that came on when it started.
