I remember my sister knitting a scarf for DD and stitching a thin slit into one area so one end could slot through it and be pulled tight. No buttons, velcro, simples.

I saw a photo on the internet, and improved on it - well, I think I've improved it, mine is more detailed and has a proper brush. The original was a bright orange tartan, you can only improve on that

I would like to point out that I am not selling or attempting to sell this scarf to anyone on this forum. Neither is it a link to a business that I do not have.

If anyone has been through the photos and looked at years old photographs of my previous life - apologies, it doesn't exist any more. The photographs are now private and I won't be putting any more photographs on the Vine, ever.

Why on earth not? I love to see the beautiful things that you make, and if this thread alone is anything to go by so do plenty of others! Oh - perhaps someone said you shouldn't as it could be construed as trying to sell or something? But you've made it clear that you're not.

If you don't put your pics up, does that mean that I shouldn't put up pics of my quilts, or Bren of her doll's houses? The vine would be a duller place if we can't appreciate the skills of others.

This morning I received a PM which said

"Just wanted to mention that you need to be aware that advertising of your products is forbidden on the Vine.
I too have things I could advertise..but keep quiet about them !

Don't get me wrong..I really admire your craft work, but we need to be squeaky clean."


So, I won't be putting anything on the Vine again. This is the second time I've received a PM like this, the last time was because someone asked if I could make a skirt for them and I made what I thought was a jokey reply. I was upset enough the first time because there were, and still are, members who link directly to their businesses in their signatures but it seems to be fine for them to do that.

This morning I am completely horrified all over again and I'm now contemplating leaving permanently because of it.

Jules please don't stop posting photos of your craft work, like Hazel says a lot of us post photos just to showcase them.

Bren, I am sat here in tears. Life has been quite hard enough recently without this. A lot of people do showcase things but it seems that I was doing more than that.

I don't know if it was because I mention that I was going somewhere to sell them - literally once last month and one again before Christmas because my Mum has asked me to accompany her, or whether it was the fact that I hadn't made my photos private, or what it was, but it is very upsetting. Whatever it is is obviously wrong, so I'm not doing it again.

I'd understand the pm if you were advertising your products, but clearly you are not. If you (or anyone else) spots a sig which does link to a business (grape's own or any other), report it and a mod will remove it.

As I say, if we are forbidden from showing off our handiwork, the Vine will be a duller place.

Oh, and it would be daft to sulk and leave over a (probably) well meant but clumsily worded pm - the Vine is a better place for your contribution, and I think that you do quite like it here really.

Jules there's more than you that have mentioned selling at fairs plus the link in your sig line doesn't take you to a sale link.
