I've tidied the glory-hole, and 're-allocated' some of the contents thereof, but that's about as far as I've got. Also, I noticed when I got home this afternoon, that I've started yanking up the hand-break again, instead of pressing the button.

I think you should give up on the handbrake, it really makes minimal difference to the wear on the ratchet, you might just as well climb into your car through the window to save wearing out the door latch.

I am staying with my nails, whilst i have not bit them,i am wanting to pick them,i actually had to cut them earlier on,first time in my life the teeth did not do the job, they were driving me nuts being long, was having bother with the remote ext, plus i have descovered they are very soft, put my hands into soil and damaged one,so that made up my mind, going to keep them nice but short,no varnish until i feel better about them, just feed my hands with the cream,

My remote only unlocks the doors, it doesn't open the windows. Not sure I'd fit through the gap anyway...

Just found there is a huge debate on motoring forums about the brake ratchet thing - and I can't decide between 'for' and 'against'. It is down to personal preference I reckon.

So I shall still try and put it on quietly - and get on with my fixits

Decided not to make a new year resolution this year but now we are into February I realise that I must do something other than drop in front of the TV on an evening. So I will try to find a job to start - progress or finish every day. It is always easier once it gets lighter on an evening and today it was 1730 before the chickens went to bed so long light evenings are almost here.
During the summer it is hard to stop working outdoors as it never really gets dark.

Definitely lighter of an evening here, too. The mornings are also improving, and I'm finding I wake earlier (then turn over and oversleep, which has happened since Hubby hasn't had to get up at stoopid o'clock). My Chooks were out until nearly six the other evening, and their egg-count has started to go up.

As for 'doing something constructive' I'm OK once I've got started, it's just the getting started that's the problem. It's all too easy to turn on the Poota to check emails, then come 'in here' and FB/Twitter and The 'Bay...

Set your timer G4 - and then just do it. That's my best suggestion.

Yup. Sounds good. Did NUFFINK today! Well apart from washing-up and one load of Laundry.

Ma Nature, bless 'er, decided to give us thunder and lightning, lust as I was getting psyched-up to start, and Osc jumped on my lap, quivering like a big heavy hairy jelly. Then Hubby came home, five minutes later, so it was off out to swap cars round, do the chooks whilst I had my gear on, and back in. I then couldn't start doing the lounge, as he has phone calls and paperwork, so he spread himself out where I was going to vacuum, and I gave up!

See - I an always find an excuse.

                    Or twenty!

Lol G4, Rosie goes into her crate, and I bustle about for 15 mins or I sit at the table for 15 - depending on the task at hand. She is very patient with me these days.

I'm back to square one with my resolution. Caught myself complaining FOUR times today, and I've been so good all through Jan and Feb. I reckon it's the sugar. Had a Devonshire split yesterday (it was delicious) but the icing on the top is the first sugar I've had for over three years, and sugar makes me really bad tempered and irritable. Maybe this month's challenge should be "not to give in to temptation"

Well now, we are well into another month and I am still catching up on my two months' worth of new good habits. The ratchet/ brake thing- still hit and miss, but then I have been driving this way for a horrifyingly long amount of time so I suspect it is going to take a good while - but I have begun listening out for the rasp.
My fixit February was really good fun, but again good intentions went adrift after a while. Even so, I have my toolbox ready for any project and I have used up a load of flexible decorators' filler! I also have some new best friends at screw**x who want to know how Rosie is every time I roll up. I have several features of my home that are now working, including my front door.
So, onto March - which involves me realising I can't do it all by myself... so I have decided for another fixit month which also involves the professionals! Each week I plan to work out what I need to get done that I can't do by myself and to book someone to do this for me. I have even put a budget together to do this
Last week I had a new helper start which I am so pleased with - someone to help me keep on top of the cleaning.
This week I am going to book a window cleaner to visit on a regular basis and if I get really brave I will book a plumber to fix the sink plug which was a pop up and has got detached from the plunger by my clumsy brother at Xmas
I have a good few weeks of these fixits stored up so this will keep me going all of March... along with me and my trusty toolbox working on my own!

Well this has been an eventful month - not quite over yet as well!

I haven't called in all the professionals at once - had to pace it and some of them will spill over into April, but this month has really been a good one.

The best of all is, once I determined to do something, it got done really easily and my helpers have all been fantastic. I love having help with the cleaning and sitting down at the end of a session with us both working - I can now have visitors!

I decided I needed woodchips for the allotment paths when I passed a tree surgeon at work round the corner from me - he duly delivered two loads of chipped poplar to the space by my plot the next day. of course, other plot holders started to use it and the first load was gone in a trice. So I started work on my paths and beds - well overdue. I now have nearly half my very untidy allotment sorted. He will deliver some more tree shreddings next week For free

I needed help sorting out the dog - her recall was not brilliant - so I have had help from a fellow dog walker twice a week doing recall between two of us and Rosie is beginning to respond well.

And after a nasty flat tyre incident I have found that the tyre centre near me does regular checkups
on all the important bits - pressure, fluids, brakes - for free as well!

So I begin plotting for next month's new habit being quite pleased with this month's - and realising that sometimes all I need to do is ask!

And to end with a flourish I have the gas engineer calling tomorrow to fix a leaky radiator valve, I had the National Grid on an emergency call out to fix a tiny gas leak in the meter cupboard, and fired off emails to a window cleaning company and to the double glazing fixit company.

I always say if I ever got organised I would be dangerous
