so sorry to read this and it would be so easy to bypass this post. But remember people get strength from each other that is why family is so important, and it is good that you are there for them.

My sympathies to you, your son and his girlfriend.
Sadly I know what its like, absolutely heart breaking, and speaking from personal experience you don't know what to feel, say or do!
Being the father I felt a sense of guilt as well as helplessness...
Give them a hug when you see them.

It still happens that way sometimes here Mrs Wadders. You're right to complain, it's the only way they will learn to deal with these things properly.
You can buy a bear for them yourself if you thought it would help. What we do here is, we are sent bears by the group. They are rather stunning bears too. All different sizes. All have a tag on their wrist. I usually choose 3 different sized bears and let the couple choose from them. They can write the name if they had one for the baby, on the wrist tag. Otherwise here, they ask if there is no name for the baby, that the name of the baby who got it all started be written in.
There are also bags that we use - these have a book with a list of resources phone/online etc and information about how things might feel. Some seeds for some white flowers, to plant in memory. Some chocolate for those miserable days. A note book and pen for writing down what you can't say to everyone else. A bear. And in cases of later losses, a photo frame.
Really, anything that marks the fact that a baby was expected, and a loss has been felt, and continues to be felt is what is needed. People often don't know what to say, so say nothing, and the couple feel like it was all in their imagination in the end.
Hugs to everyone who has been through it.Ali

Some days it's hardly worth chewing through the restraints!
