          My dearest Dotty,

I have always had strong Royal connections, Diana and Charles named their two children after me (Harry & William) coupled to the fact that we once wanted to go into the stadium at the Royal show and it was full but my dad bribed a steward to get us into the Royal box (which was empty) where he proceeded to carry out his ritual of peeling pears with a pen knife. My blood gets increasingly blue though this may be my angina.
I shall continue to treat everyone on here as near equals.

I shall end with a tiny wave and my blessings to you all.

We are dead lucky on here and I think you will agree we don't want to spoil it - there are many ways to garden now and the new ways may or may not be better than the old ways but all are worth giving a try to extend our experience as to what works best for us and we can exchange our own views and opinions without sneers or rancour
I didn't see any insults, but the way to deal with insults is to deal wit the person making them . . . not to close the discussion to those that can function without insulting one another. I know it's a fine line and Mods are always overworked and under appreciated, I'm a Mod on some other Forums as I said earlier, discussion and argument is a good thing, rowing or insulting is not.

We can be pleasant to each other even if we disagree

I agree with your last sentence, but to me this is a gardening forum for learning with the added benefit of good humour so we will just have to agree to differ

On that note, as the purpose of this thread was only to suggest how if someone doesn't like the tenor of another member's posts, they can avoid seeing them by placing that member's name in their ignore list and that objective has been served, a kindly passing mod might oblige and close the thread. There is no point in continuing to pick over the bones of yesterday.

If you find the ignore button harsh, do wot I does most times type a long response to vent then delete it....

The numbers of posts I've deleted over the years outnumbers the numbers of posts me thinks, either for above reason, or I re-read and think my humour cuts to harshly or it don't read right or or or

Very useful tip for political blogs RT but you shouldn't find it necessary 'to vent' on here except on a very rare occasion - I do agree that 'humour' has to be used carefully which is why I reserve all my caustic comments for VC who has an understanding nature not to mention a pointy stick

At last I am up to speed and can see what all the fuss was about.

No further comment needed I think its all been said.

Thank you to our mods for keeping the insanity in check. Whoops that was a comment after all.

I do that - and Nicos is right, think. We've picked over the bones of this.

Is the middle of January our 'silly season' because we can't get out gardening so easily??
