I went in last Saturday Mally, but they had only just started stocking up the gardening section. My daughter and eldest GG were also pretty forceful in steering me away from the seeds

Must all be thinking along same lines, I called in there yesterday, and came away with large carrier of pots, trays, etc, resisted seeds, as I really don't need any more.

I needed something from there the other day and quickly nipped in- noticed they had fruit trees but despite how tempted I was didn't get any. I already have 4 fruit trees think my other half would have gone barmy if I'd bought home any more!

I called in last week, but ours is a bit behind. No potatoes and no onions yet, but I did get 3 packets of seeds.

I was very good, and only got what I needed - I have loads from last year, plus the free ones from GYO.

              Hi, just a quick question..

will the onion sets store ok from now until...hopefully march when i can put them in??

Just ive had some that do that thing where they disappear in the skin, go empty..

I'm very keen to get some Turbo onion sets at a good price... last year all my overwintered onions moulded and none were usable leaving me to think it was the soil up the lottie... all of the 90 odd Turbo sets i put in around march April were great!

They will keep fine, getting them now give you pick of the best, you can also start them off earlier in either modules,or close to each other in a seed tray, they will get an early start on the roots system, plant out when you got green shoots, then the birds will not be tempted to pull them out, plus, you can see where they are with no gaps,

Hi Lottie.. I'm hoping to just put them in direct, i have a feeling that the ones that rotted might have been affected by sitting in my greenhouse/garden in compost in trays, it was my first year at the allotment, putting the turbo sets in direct worked well, so this year i'm going to do exactly the same!

BigMally, the Ikea net things are a good idea!

I don't think my lil' un would be too pleased if I ditch his teddy bears ion the floor and replace with onions though.
While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.
