Aw bums Shen. Is it a league with teams that you are in? I'm not very good at chess, OITC tried teaching me once... I won but think that was because I never shut up asking questions and put him off
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
Right, cake layers ganach'ed together on top of both boards. Hands and co-ordination have gone, so time for a rest. Just going to have another look at the fabulous Australian cake lady's YooChoob video to make sure I'm still doing everything right
The BH has gone to collect #1 Son from work - it hasn't stopped throwing it down since lunchtime, no way he could bicycle in this weather. Water is rising in the garden - my pond fish will be everywhere if it continues

This particular competition is for a cup with 6 players in each team - it is a game we should have expected to win as we had our strongest team out but or captain on board 3 was not feeling too well and made an early mistake which eventually cost him the game. Our top player on board 1, who is currently teaching my grandson to play chess at school, seemed to be winning when his opponent produced a devastating move which led to our man losing on time.
We had a young girl of 16 on board 6 and she had a slightly better game but could only manage a draw as could my retired farmer friend on board 3. I had finished early with a win on board 5 and my friend on board 4, (the doctor who delivered all 3 of my grandchildren), eventually won on board 4.
In instances like this where the game is drawn 3 games each then a rule applies which is known as a board count and because the opposition had won on board 1 they won the match.
These things happen - we have a league game on Monday and will start anew

Morning I've awake since 6 and couldn't get back to sleep so thought I might as well get up and read a bit. Its not a bad day out so i'll be able to sort out the last of this seasons pheasants outdoors instead of making a mess in the kitchen
Morning all - patchy blue sky and a bit of sunshine here. Taking cardboard to the lottie and going to have a bit of a tidy up, clearing rubbish (literally - not weeds - carp) from the new fruit plot. Have a good day, whatever you decide to do
Off to café 52 for lunch with OITC today. We looked after the neighbours animals for 2 weeks over Christmas and they gave us a voucher and other gifts as a thank you, bless em. Not feeling my best at the mo but will certainly enjoy a pig out.
Update: Never made it there for lunch. Both myself and OITC are croc today. Boo hiss achoo!

Morning All. Beautiful sunrise - sun on the water and Somerset looking like an island rising from the mist.
Lots of twig and branch clearing to do after some heavy tree pruning on Friday. Rain stopped play yesterday so its out and at 'em time
Have a great day
Well, back from the park with Rosie - walking round looking for my credit card wallet. No joy, but at least we got the morning exercise session done before the footballers start their game! We were amongst the first there - interesting to watch a guy doing his morning exercise routine!
Morning All.....we have blue at present, but there is something big and grey arriving up the Channel as I type.
I think I may have figured out an ingenious way of getting even ganache on the top and sides of my rectangular cake. I watched the Australian lady do it to a round cake, but she didn't show you how to to corners. If I'm lucky I'll get the first layer of fondant icing on today. Still have to figure out how to do the radio speaker grill without stretching it out of shape. I'm a tad worried about that.
Coffee?

Jeanie I've just read your good news in the happy thread and isn't it good to hear there's still some decent folk around.
The TV we put on Freecycle the other days been collected so that's a bit more space in my craft room.
