  • Moaning All - its wet wet Wetnesday here too
How crafty are dogs? I have to give old Rosie a tiny little tablet first thing in the morning on an "empty stomach". Its so small I'm sure she'd lose it somewhere in her mouth so she has it with a little biscuit and I watch the floor until she's finished to make sure she hasn't spat it out. Today, I found the soggy tablet on Mary dog's' back. Whoever said you can't teach an old dog new tricks was right!
    See y'all later

Done THE THING! All checked and checked again, and emailed off!

        *happy dance!

Time for a celebratory coffee - I feel (predictably!) relieved to get that out the way - and it (equally predictably!) was not such a big deal once I knuckled down and got the heck on with it.

        Fa la la la la!

Now - what's been going on round here........

Watch what he goes Jeanie and see if you can do it yourself if there is a next time. Rat poison can be bought, he will leave you boxes that you can use again

Must admit. It probably is the bird feeders. Was looking out the other day at my birdies, and said to hubby "what bird is that" he looked and couldn't make it out. Got out binocs and yes, it was a bloody rat. Must get to Specsavers. We have a bait box behind the shed, time for him to get it out and refill.

                • That's the problem we have with next doors they have two ground feeders for the birds so the rats come and go to feed I said if they held of feeding for a week or two the rats would take the bait out of their traps instead.

Did the chickens find it easy to feed from it BB? I'm thinking of getting one but I have a couple of old chickens...

                      • Took a few days for them to fully get used to it Scarlet, but now feed freely as & when they like
After the initial loading of the hopper leave a brick (or similar weight) on the tread plate during the day,for 2 or 3 days so they become accustomed to feeding from it,then put each in turn on the unweighted treadle so they see the cover plate open, mine are nearly three years old & soon learned
The clank when it shuts may make them jump a few times but they soon become accustomed to it & ignore it as it becomes just a normal background noise

                        Edit:I got the 10kg version of this .... http://www.regencypoultry.com/feeder...dle_feeder.htm

                        • Well I have been out and jetwashed the whole paved area - and I will keep rinsing away any spilled seed from the feeders - down the drain. I am determined to get rid of the so and sos.

                              • I have to keep the dog away from the poison bait sites now, and the one place she wants to go is where they are staked in the ground!

I am pooped too, having swung the jetwasher wand around for a couple of hours. And somewhere along the line I pulled a muscle under my shoulder blade and it hurts to take a deep breath. More painkillers

Maybe I'll take a hot bath later - haven't had one of those for a while as I usually dash in and out of the shower in the mornings!
