  • Morning all! Well it was daft to have a late night last night, as I've plenty to do today, but there you go.

Sorry to hear about your missing cat, Bal - too sad.

Better get on - house to clean, then off to the Hill to see what's enjoyed the last couple of day's rain. And I'm hoping that the answer to that is 'beans and peas' and not 'slugs and weeds'. We shall see!

      • ..I'd prefer the rain to hold off til Monday Martin...or at least tonight!
I'm doing a Vide Grenier ( car boot sale) tomorrow and there'll be no point in doing it if it's raining!
Managed to get loads of stuff together too.

            • Aaaaaaaarternooooooon Peeps. Yesterday's weather arrived at lunch-time today. Torrentially. Then stopped, and the sun came out. The roads were steaming as I drove home - as were my trousers, due to some idiot having parked her car with the windows open...

              • I got drenched this morning by a sneaky thunderstorm - and it has been raining on and off since then.
I am sitting here itching, suddenly got a skin rash on my neck from somewhere - waiting for the antihistamines to kick in. Poor dog also had a rash on her tummy which I think was caused by cut down nettles on the lottie. Hers is getting better though. Maybe I should try her special shampoo
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

                • Afternoon just a bit of rain today so I didn't need the windscreen wipers on for long.

                  • Evening all! Scarecrow is in situ at the Hill - but I forgot to take any piccies. Oh well, I'll be there for the work party in the morning, and - bonus - it might not be raining.

On another note, can you freeze croissants?

                    • Yep, Hazel, you can freeze them - freeze them on an open baking sheet then wrap individually in tinfoil then plastic so you can bake them again.
I always find the bargain bags of 5 or so are really dry so I need to do something to them to liven them up.

                        • After being unhappy with the partly reshuffled garden (to fit the water butt in a specific place) and being unable to find a revised layout that I'm happy with ....

... and after deciding that a fine alternative would be to sign up to a local private members club with real ales and snooker tables within walking distance, only to discover the application process could take up to a month ...

.... and the local pubs being pretty naff, and my mate next door being away for the weekend ...

... and me not achieveing a few other things I'd hoped to get done today ...

... I have decided to consult the oracle ... AKA the chimenea. The weather looks like it's going to stay dry tonight, so an evening of sitting outside staring into the flames with a nice bottle of single malt alongside me seems an ideal way to finish a rather frustrating Saturday

                          • Nice one, AIC.

I'm tucking into strogonoff (?sp) with new pots (not mine, I must say) with a glass of rhubarb and red fruits wine with the footy on.

                            • Sounds good AIC. I have half a mind to freegle my big clay chimenea - which I never use - and get myself a new metal one with a grille and a door to stop the dog diving in after any dry wood I have stored in there
Mind you I am a softie and the cat likes to sit in the chimenea and watch the world when it is raining

                              • Just been out on a small slug hunt with a torch - dog has her own mission to catch snails - she has brought in 8 so far this evening. Top tip - use dog poo bags to collect them, knot the tie handles and shove in the bin.
