  • Mornin all!

    Lovely morning here too.
I put a vase of sweet peas in the bedroom last night and woke up to their wonderful scent!

Does anyone else put flowers in their bedroom...no one else I know does!

      • Morning all...Rainy here, but working so not too bothered - personally speaking
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

My Mum always did! When I used to go to stay, she'd always put a tiny vase with a few flowers from the garden in my room. She died in 2006 but it's one of my really strong memories of her.

          • Lavender was always something my Mum had in the bedroom either fresh or dried.....funny how smells instantly transport your thoughts to things past.

            • I'm not very good with fresh flowers - forget to top up the water and next thing the floor is scattered with withered petals.
Always pick bunches of lavender though, tie it in bunches and hang them from the window latches.............don't ask me why

They really do, don't they, especially if you smell things with your eyes closed.

The smell of nail varnish always reminds me of being in Spain when I was 13, and buying some super cheapo bright red stuff from a supermarket to paint my fingernails!

                      • Evening all!

Good job I'd decided that the Hill look after itself without me cycling up there to oversee matters - it's belting it down now. Plants will love it (as will the slugs, no doubt!).

Gives me chance to catch up here at home. So I'm just about to make Nigel Slater's marmalade cake, then I'll update the blog, I think.

Almost home, about 90 mins to go....absolutely starving but not going to succumb to one of those nasty train sandwiches.

Got a nice broccoli quiche and new pots calling my name.....and as I never went near the bar in the hotel I might have to pop a cork as well
