  • Eeeeeeeeevenin' Peeps! None of the three thundery nights we've had recently have been forecast by the Met Office.

It has just got really really humid here, so I've stopped playing 'put-and-take' with my tools and dog guards an' stuff, from one motor to t'other, and have come in to check the forecast...

    • After sweltering for an hour doing the ironing I have just cooled off with the fan full on, some cold water, and a further hour of mending The mending has been gathering dust for months so I am pleased about that

Dog is busily chewing on a beef bone from the freezer and making a pretty good job of it
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

        • Evening all. I'm here with a glass of apple wine. Best not have more that the one as I will be inclined to be maudlin and sit here and post pics of Oliver cat, and frankly, that will do no one any good at all.

Thunder and lightning earlier - sun shining now. I think I'll do something useful and cook my reduced-to-one-pound 1kg of chicken legs for turning into pies tomorrow.

Hope you're all having a better day than I have had.

            • The storms all seem further north than predicted Hazel so I think they have foxed the forecasters.

Now I could have helped you out with that bottle of apple wine (father's favourite) if you were just that bit nearer lol. I have had to put up with a rather nice Vinho Verde.

I have 5 kitties that I miss so much - and one that is really doing her best to keep me happy while she is with me - cue brave smilie.

              • I make a couple of batches of apple wine a year from the apples in mum's garden - this year I had enough apples for 2 batches of 6 bottles. The first batch is 15.5% abv , and sweet enough to make your teeth itch, and the other is not quite so strong, and much more tasty (to my palate - mum LOVES the super sweet batch).

This is the first pet that I've lost as an adult - and snatched away at that. Lots of positives about how great his life was, at least I found him (and without a mark on him), how a good samaritan must have taken him from the roadside to a peaceful spot out of the dreadful rain we had last night and much much more. It's still a stinker though.

Enough - going to go and cook.

                  • Hazel, I don't "Like" what has happened but I do "Like" the fact that Oliver was put somewhere safe by someone who cared. Remember the good times.....................and have another glass if it helps!

                      • Oh my - the dog is being extra cuddly tonight on account of I gave her a new beef rib bone to chew. Cat is being extra cuddly on account of it is hot and she fancies some extra pouches of food in gravy to lick.
And I am feeling extra sad for Hazel and all our other losses as it is not far away for any of us.

And then I need to get a bit more cheerful as, after all, I am a gardener.

                        • Hazel, I have lost a lot of pets/friends over the years its a very hard loss and I am so sorry. My son had the double tragedy of running over his own cat.

                          • Morning all!

It's warm and sticky here this morning, but that's ok because the car has air-conditioning... Mrs H and I are going away for a couple of days and no gardening! Everything's watered and will need to carry on without my fussing until I get back.

                            Happy gardening everyone!
