Although anyone south and east of Watford will not be remotely appalled at this, I have just been to one of our local pubs (frequented about once a month) and have paid just short of FOUR POUNDS for a pint of bitter. Not lager, bitter. Not a fancy 'limited edition' or somesuch, but a bog standard pint of Purity UBU.
To put this into context, at the Weatherspoon's their standard guest beer cost is £2.69 per pint.
To be fair to the Miller and Carter staff, they agreed that I was right to be appalled - they were appalled on my behalf. The prices didn't encourage normal people, just those who - and I quote - are 'up themselves'.
A friend who came in for last orders was equally appalled. We may have to strike this one off our roster of Wednesday night hostelries.
I am appalled.

Another glorious sunny Suffolk day again today, have fun grapes and grapelettesNever test the depth of the water with both feet
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....
Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

Lovely start to the day here in w London. Got the family coming over for dinner today. As is traditional, it is roast lamb because we are picking our first runner beans today. This is a red letter day and the only one where I share my precious crop. Mind you, I do find the kids wangling invites a little more in the summer. From the garden, potatoes, peas (in freezer), carrots and runner beans. Got to tidy up a bit first though .........Nannys make memories
