  • Well what an old softee I am! In tears to Auld Lang Syne at the Commonwealth closing ceremony.

Actually I've watched a bit of the games and was overwhelmed by (a) Jo Pavey at the age of 40 running the 5k in 14mins for a bronze medal. FOURTEEN MINUTES??? She didn't half go for it - it I expend that much effort, I am sick on the finish. So well done to her - oh, I'm not great, but she runs TWICE AS FAST as I do, and she's not that much younger than me. Blimey.

And (b) Jody Stimpson in the women's triathlon. She wasn't chosen for our Olympic 2012 squad, but was stunning in her swim/cycle/run. Sadly, in her interviews afterwards no one could understand her thick-as-treacle black country accent. Well done, Jody, from (G)Oldbury.

    • Well its that time to say goodnight, up at 04.50 to get the train to Norwich. During my journey I will take a moment to remember all those who lost thier lives in the atrocities of WW1.

Goodness - how outrageously early is that!! Enjoy your trip, GL, and I hope we will all take a moment tomorrow to remember.

          • Morning all. Up early, so I've already had 2 x teas and 1 x coffee VC. But go on, I could force down another!

Also have eaten 3 x ripe blackberries from the garden.

              • Nice and bright here, off to babysit our grandchildren, whilst our daughter works. Not required next week, other Nanny has a caravan in Wales so they go there for a week or so. Just picked an Ailsa Craig tomato a tad prematurely, hope they taste better when properly ripe lol.
We have a raised bed at the back of the garden which we have planted spuds in. Mainly main crop, but a few 2nd earlies that we had no room in containers for
. As we are on our last bag if spuds I thought I would take a serious look at them. The mains are still flowering, and everything is growing beautifully, not a dead or manky haulms to be seen
Shall I leave everything until they die off? Actually, the mains are red, so I could harvest everything that is not. They have all been in the ground since 17th March

                • I'm not sure NS, but when you find out, please let me know! I have a row of spuds, Sarpo Axona, that are still flowering and looking jolly healthy. All the others have died back and I have dug most of them up now (they weren't brilliant). I thought I'd just keep watering these SAs until they die back too, but it's quite weird how they are at the moment showing no sign of doing so!

                    No

And the chunks are a bit big too. I think I'll put it through the sieve, give it a tiny whiz in the blender then bubble it up in the pan again. Hmm.

                        • Aaaaaaaaaaaarternoooooooooooon Peeps! Soooooo nice to be back on the Pooty, after using the iPad for so long. The App is great for a quick catch up, but you can't beat a proper big bright Pooty screen.

Well, I dunno where the day has gone, but I have been quite productive - yes, really! Hubby came home briefly this afternoon, between jobs, so we managed to get both vehicles' Trackers fitted, registered and working - I'll be sleeping more easily at nights now. Fab!

                          Anyone for a cuppa?

                              • Evening All. Had a lovely first day off, outside all day and got loads done, then cooked a roast dinner. Really struggling with my eyesight - opticians next week, I've put it off long enough, though goodness knows why. I can't read very well, so it's a struggle on here. Good job I touch type, so you'll not shut me up altogether. Have a lovely evening
