  • I saw that in the paper - luckily it only ploughed the barn, and another missed the car. There is one pic of a boulder ploughing a huge trench through their vines; next to that boulder is another massive boulder with no trench, so there must have been another slide in the past. Scary stuff though!

      • With you there, AP. I'd just put on fingerless gloves and another fleece, when Mr.G came home, so it was boots on and coat, move the car, do the Chooks, and back indoors. Seems warmer in here now. Fire's lit and the immersion is on, so I'll have a warming wallow later.

          • To be fair, Bren, you've just had your hair cut so you're likely to feel the cold.

            • I refuse to put the heating on until the timer says so - for me it is extra jumpers and some dog heat on the sofa!

              • All the tiles are on the wall - 6 or 8 of them twice One wall is grouted and my son in law, who much prefers grouting to tiling, particularly when they have to be cut to fit, will grout the other half tomorrow, whilst I give the new ceiling its first coat of varnish. Another 3 days should see all the paintwork finished, and a new hatch built.

Think I'll leave the new hob and the floor covering till I return from Centre Parc as my young brother will be looking after the cat whilst I'm away.

                  • G4 - Great family holiday - since Grandson no.1 was born have been every year and since no. 3 was born have been 2 or 3 times a year - I think only boating on the Norfolk Broads compares for a family holiday but the former where you can sit beside a heated pool whilst the ducks slide on the frozen lake outside or where you can swim in the heated outdoor pool whilst people walk by in the rain or the snow is hard to beat.

                    • Evening all, survived the first week of new job. Something of an eye opener. Challenges of teaching subjects to Folks with English as second language. More hours and longer days too.

                      • Done the Broads too, Shen. Several times, but again, not for years and years. However, we're booked for a week there in May, with the couple we used to go with. Really looking forward to that - although I don't think my liver will be able to stand the pace nowadays, so hopefully they've slowed down a bit now, too!

Good to 'see' you HH, and glad you survived. The important question is, did you enjoy it?

                              • Well done on the first week, HH! Anything new is tiring, so let yourself chill out this weekend.

It's drizzle/light rain as it has been all day - not half as bad as the forecast, although perhaps my definition of 'rain' is not the same as that of the forecasters.

Back from Sains - spent more on the cats grub/litter than I did on food for me! Did buy egg custards for supper though - yum.

                                Cup of tea, anyone?
