  • Evening all!

I'm having a lovely evening here in the kitchen! Baking a cake, first of all.

Then making something which - looking in the fridge - will consist of mince, ratatouille, swede (8p on the yellow sticker at Tesc's last night), carrots, potatoes, onions, mushrooms, egg custard and pork pie.

Ok, maybe not the last two.

    • Evening all. I am having to take action to stop this little dog becoming a yappy small dog! She thinks the best technique to take whatever Rosie is playing with is to bark at her. I am not putting up with yapping - neither is Rosie! Rosie has already given her one of her rawhide chews to chomp on, but Petal only wants the one Rosie has. So we have two on the go - with regular swaps at half time!

Potty training is still a work in progress, but the little one is only around 11-12 weeks old if that so I am being a bit ambitious!

Rosie is proving to be a great big sister which I am so pleased about - the cat is coolly indifferent which is also a great result.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

              • For swiss roll I remember you have to cut the outer crusts off and roll when still warm.

                • My mother used to lay the cake on a damp tea towel and roll that. Didn't look easy so I've never tried.

                  • Sitting on the deck with 3 dogs and son. 17 yo daughter (tomorrow) is chilling in her room.
Party over. All gone home. Have to laugh. 2 Red P Platers (1st year licence) both driving ute's. Boy arrived with stories of nearly being run off the road 3 times
Those d@mn locals teach them defensive driving in their own way

One L Plater being coerced into driving back into town by parents (they have to do 120 hours to get their licence, and it takes forever!)

Getting the washing done. Was 34 degrees yesterday, only about 20 today.
Glad daughter had a good time with friends, but nice to have the house to ourselves - peace and tranquility, and loud music

                        • Hi everyone, very windy here and it's chilly too. Middle GG got home from work at half seven, got into PJs, ate a huge kebab and chips with salad and garlic sauce (her choice), fell asleep at half eight, went to bed at nine and woke at half eight this morning! She had a full English with my son this morning, ate her strawberries later and had a chocolate bar before she went home at two. She says she'll be forty stone by the end of this week (hardly, there's not an ounce of fat on her and she eats like a horse). I'm sitting down for the first time today.

                          • I've love to be able to eat like that! I only smell a apple tart and I put on a stone! I've only just sat down too Flo, my brother and his family have stayed for the weekend on route to their hols on the Norfolk broads. Lovely to see my Niece and Nephew, especially good when they say my chocolate brownie is better than Nannys!!!

Take up running - although I eat like a horse, I am trimmer and fitter than I have been for years.

                              • Afternoon all!

I've spent a productive few hours at the Hill, but when I stepped back to look at what I'd achieved, it didn't seem to be an awful lot.

Still, the raspberries are all chopped down. I couldn't work out which were the summer, and which are the autumn ones, so I whacked the whole lot down. Oh well, should be able to work it out next year, even if I've scuppered the summer rasps crop.

Hope everyone else has had a nice day? It's dark now and so I'm going to close the curtains and put the kettle on. Tea and cake, anyone?

The swiss roll says 'Hazel' on the top in cocoa - but not very clearly! I need to get the knack of the stencil, which my big sis gave me for my birthday. Cake tastes nice, anyway.
