Morning all..Seriously stormy evening last night, so, of course, off I went for a quick 5k run.....Great with the wind at your back, not so great when it wasn't
Didn't matter which direction I was running with regard to the rain tho....
Then arrived back to hear one of my vent slates on the roof doing a bit too much banging for my liking, so up to the attic to discover it was broken and was letting in some drops of rain
No harm done as the insulation is very deep there, so it was getting slightly wet, but none getting thru to the ceiling level..So covered it up with cardboard and paper until I can fit a new slate..
Always blaady something
I know that the forecasters can't get it right all the time, but yesterday at 5pm we had look at the hour by hour forecast of 'heavy rain' which ran from 8pm last night to midnight tonight with just a one hour slot of respite at 3pm today down as 'heavy rain showers'. We commented on it as it was so dire.
Woke up this morning and it is dry (and clearly has been for some time) and actually reasonably bright. I quite understand that the 3 and 5 day forecast is tricky to get right, but in this case they are miles out - I'd do a better job looking out the window.
BTW I know how lucky we are in not being affected by the weather too badly, and it must be awful for those cut off/flooded.
Morning all. We have the tail end of the storm just whipping through at the moment - hope everyone is unscathed. Is it me, or are the South Wales and West Country contingent a bit quiet this morning?
Back to the Dr on Friday as the Lyme is back with a vengence just a week after finishing the treatment. Two hurty shoulders means Mr PP is going to have to have to do the cooking. Might have a dig about in the freezer ... Legs still work which is a blessing!!
Ohhh, look. Cirl bunting :-)
Been reading about taking garlic as antibacterial. The doc says he knows the dose is right if he can smell the patients arriving
Time to chuck another log on the fire. Have a good day all and stay safe and dry.
I'm around PP - as is the wet and windy weather Such a change from yesterday when it was all day in the garden, mostly in sunshine!
The woodpecker windchime is clonking away - he'll have a buckled beak in this weather
Hope your health improves soon PP At least the garlic will keep the werewolves at bay
Couldnt find daughters birth certificate - where do they go when you need them? So had to pay for another, book another test, then change it again as she's got an excursion that day - least we gave the lady behind the counter a chuckle.
spent the evening out with the kids in the food/less forrest putting chicken wire ON the ground, so the chickens can't move my mulch! Will be funny watching them try to scratch tomorrow - should be interesting to see how the batties cope - they seem to take to new things so well considering they spent so much time in cages.
Having a quiet glass of red, waiting for the snags to cook, and we're going to have a MASH night.
Some days it's hardly worth chewing through the restraints!
One bit of old folklore wisdom says to plant tomatoes when the soil is warm enough to sit on with bare buttocks. In surburban areas, use the back of your wrist. Jackie French

Morning All.....Very rough night. I did go down at about 2ish to fill every flask we possess, and look out extra candles (although we always have candles on the mantle shelf) The wind is still howling, and it's raining hard again. Thankfully, we have power and the water is still well below the doorsteps.
Coffee?

I have been trying to teach her to give me her paw. So I hold up the treat and say 'paw' before I give it to her. She is catching on pretty fast- within about 20 minutes she was plonking her paw in my hand with one eye firmly on the treat in the other hand.
Except now she has decided she wants the treats faster, so she keeps tapping my hand with her paw in rapid succession! Then both paws - she is so funny and naughty.
