No, I closed the hall door, and the back door was open, so it's all cleared away.
I know someone was having car trouble recently, just couldn't remember who it was. Dementia must be setting in.

Oh Hazel......that's terrible. (((HUGS)))
I hate burned toast too. That awful acrid smell. Once saw a house design prog on tv, where they built a cruciform house and the put the kitchen in the middle of the cross. It had a double height ceiling and was galleried all round to the upstairs. No extractor hood, nothing to remove cooking smells or greasy frying smoke - every little smell could drift quite happily into all of the upstairs rooms. Big mistake, I thought, no curry in that house, no burning of toast, no smoking griddles. You can take open plan too far.Jules

That's one of my all-time favourite Grand Designs, Jules. Green Oak frame and straw-bale walls. Lovely lovely house. Your comment about the cooking smells was about the only detrimental thing we could think of at the time. Great minds...
Right, I've finished 'ranting' and now the washer has stopped, so I'd better go feed it some more laundry. All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

Geef, the only other thing was why they built their children such dinky bedrooms. I don't think they built out over all four arms of the cruciform, whereas we would have. If we self-built it's what we'd do - green oak, huge windows, lots of light and space - but not the central kitchen, I make far too many noxious odours when cooking! I really loved the 'A' frame cruck house built by the woodsman, especially when they revisited; his wife had really made it into a home and the garden was to die for.
Just having the last bits of yesterday's low carb pizza thing for lunch, possibly followed by a low carb pancake, then I'm off to potter in the workroom.Jules

Back home now, via mum's where she gave me poached egg on toast - nom nom.
I should go for a run with the unexpected free afternoon, but it's bloody freezing out there and I really cba. If I want a cup of coffee, I'm going to have to get milk - the RAC man had the last drop in his coffee earlier.
Plenty to do round here instead of running - if someone has a spare pitchfork, chuck it over - this place is like a STY.......

Afternoon all. My brain is telling me to chill. I tried to do some counselling coursework; but my brain isn't interested. It all looks like gibberish on the screen. Don't think I'm in the head space to do it. Think I will resume magic square number 7. Have found knitting to be very very calming and therapeutic this week.

How did you get on with the moss stitch, HH?
I really must go and do something. I'm prevaricating around the shrubbery. I blame the fluffy blanket and my full tummy.Jules

Right, I'm back - it's cold and windy and bleugh out there now. Horses done. Chickens done. Kettle's on, but I have a sweet craving...
Jules, going back to the Cruciform House - I think you'll find they ran short of funds, so it wasn't all finished off as they'd originally planned.
