  • It's bright here, Jeanie, but the wind seems to have increased again. I have to go out and do Horsey chores in a bit, can't decide whether to take the Dogs with me. I know they want a run, but it's awful out there, so I may be a bad Mummy and leave them behind. It's due to be calmer tomorrow.

Think I'll have another cuppa first...

      • Aching now! Just been out to B&Q and nabbed 3x 60l bags of MPC, 4x 25l topsoil, a bag of cheapo pebbles, 1x 50l ericaceous compost, and a big bag of bark chippings ... only to find someone had knicked my parking spot on the street at home so I had to carry them all a lot further than I hoped. I then decided to nip back out to the chippy and have just wolfed down a large mixed kebab with chilli sauce for medicinal and restorative purposes

Trying do decide if I should get changed out of this wet gear, don some waterproofs and go out there to use some of this stuff I've just bought ... or have a beer and a bit of a kip

See, I don't agree with anyone being force fed the bard at school. There is lots within the canon that people could draw upon, and perhaps be exposed to in snippets. But never should it be used to dull beautiful brains. Guess I just got lucky in liking it! Missed the Bollywood version of a play last year.

Tonight, it's an all male cast of the propellor company. Which will make the love story a bit more interesting and more genuine I suppose.

Incidentally, Aunty G4, have you ever made a rendering of a brain? I'll drop you a PM in case I get told off for soliciting

            • Back from the second walk today - the park this afternoon had some huge branches down and kids were intrigued to see where they had broken off.

On the way home I stopped at the pet shop and bought Rosie her first pig's ear - yeuch! She polished if off in about 10 minutes and burped loudly. 'Pardon me!' I say and she looks round as if to say 'who burped?'
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

              • I could never get into his works either until OITC bought me a BBC compilation set. It was really good and we even went to the cinema last year to watch a live performance of... erm... eek! I'll come back to you... Stephen Fry was in it.

                  • We had to ban pigs ears and rawhide from our house. One of the dogs chews the entire thing till it is soft then tries swallowing in one go. After having to put my fingers down a choking bull terrier's throat for the 3rd time I decided enough.

Pig-wigs - never met a Dog that doesn't like 'em. I have to buy two sorts; the biiig ones in the net bags, and the smaller dried ones in the box. Rox has the small dried ones, and takes a long time with them, so Osc has the big ones or he'll be back in five minutes for a second one if he has the small ones.

My Mum had to ban raw-hide chews for the very same reason, Kitty, as did I with my old Goldie. Not nice having them regurgitated in the middle of the lounge carpet when you're watching telly.

                      • I've stopped my daughters giving Star rawhide chews and pigs ears because she destroys them in seconds. Never chokes on them, but sicks them up about ten minutes later - usually all over the living room carpet.

                        • BTW, Star is a Staffy x whippet. The jaws and chewing power of that dear little dog are absolutely bloody phenomenal. Can't let her have tennis balls, footballs, tugropes, etc.

Kong toys do seem to last her quite well, but my family have stopped buying me furry slippers

                            • Rosie is a menace with the rawhide chews - she chomps on them till they start to soften then she swallows the lot. She doesn't choke or sick them up - but I worry about them not being very good for her.

                              • On the occasions they ate them without choking they weren't sick.

Just the one pooch that did occasionally choke. Once to the point I thought she was going to pass out. That was the last time they had any rawhide. The old thump on the back (or both sides of chest in her case) first aid move didn't work so in went my hand quite a way down her throat. Took her a while to forgive me for that one...
