need tools for allotment

I have been saving up to by myself a playstation 4, but I guess the money would now be better spent on the new allotment

I was wondering if anybody here has ever purchased from these people:

Allotment tools and all other allotment supplies

In particular I am interested in a canterbury fork and a good quality chillington Hoe.

It would appear that my local garden centres look at me stupid when I ask them if they sell canterbury hoes....

And the likes of b and q etc, do not really sell any high quality stuff.

Does anybody on here use chillington hoes or canterbury forks?

Have you tried pughs? One in radyr and another someone somewhere else - forgotten.

May be worth giving them a bell, they always seem very helpful to me.

yes I spoke with Pughs, my cousin works there.

THey had not even heard of a canterbury fork!

I am keen to get hold of one of these, as they are good for 'hand rotavating'.

I am happy to order online, but am surprise nowhere local has them, or even heard of them!

I use a mid-weight Chillington hoe with a long series handle and absolutely love it. Superb for trenching and levelling and takes the back strain out of grubbing up brambles, rhubarb roots etc. I did have a bit of trouble getting the head and handle to settle in (kept coming loose so eventually fitted a couple of screws to hold it firm) but it's probably the best tool I've ever bought.

Lots of people probably have not heard of them VC, but I would have expected the garden centre to have known what I meant!

I to have chillington hoe's,a smaller narrow,and a larger one,they are brilliant,the bigger one,althogh a bit heavy for me to swing,is great for heaping up the soil on the spuds as they grow,also any thing that needs a heavier dig up,cuts through brambles ext a treat,they can then be raked up ready to tackle the roots,the smaller 1 is good in between planted rows,or chopping the soil up prior to sowing seeds in,many uses,the other tool i have something simulor,it's years old,it can be very useful as well,in variouse ways,if i had to make a choice of 1 only,it would be the 2 sized chillington's,i to as well as other down our lotties has had to encourage the handle to stay in place,fore warned is for amed,

I just cant find anything of this quality locally, so will order online soon....

Just looked it up and I bought my hoe from the same site that's in your link. The purchase went smoothly, the item was delivered before estimated time and it was packed well. Hope this helps

it was got from a ironmongers,that deals with farm things,in leicester,a personal visit from a recommendation,plus a go with the tool ,VIPANS 1960 LTD

have a google for,farmers iron mongers wales,there is one in south wales,

Daft question... Seeing as you are buying Chillington products, have you tried their website? Not used them myself, but...

sounds like a good deal from your link,are postage charges included,plus you already have a recomendation,good luck,you will not regret getting one.

Have just been looking on that site link,in the sale bit,they got pots 0.50 for a pkt of 10, 3inch pots,on going to the wheelbarrow,i asked for 10 times,thought oh,£5,no,it says 2.50 for this month,gona have a proper look,and get in an order,lots cheaper than wilkos,so,i should get 200 pots for that 5er,plus any postage,that size is ideal for potting up lots of things,

Forget it,got to the end to pay,they deliver free in the peterborough area,but want more postage than the pots cost ekk,
