  • How lovely is Christine Walkden?!

Never really come across her as a presenter before. I've seen her do a couple of minutes on Gardeners World, or on the Chelsea flower show, but that's all.
Her programme on The great British garden revival was about herbaceous borders.
I thought "Oh, how dull" and was going to fast forward her. But, before you know it, I was totally engrossed - and so was my husband who tolerates my obsession with gardening programmes!
What an interesting presenter and she made something I thought was going to be really boring not at all boring.
She came across as knowing what she was talking about, without seeming know-it-all-ee and was really engaging and enthusiastic.
So a big thumbs up from me to her, and I hope the makers of the show put her on tv a bit more, she was lovely!
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

I have always thought she is a hoot - her and Daphne Ledward. Christine appears on the one show quite often too.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Daphne has retired I think after an unfortunate incident. I have her allotment yearbook which is great fun.

Just 'gurgled' as I don't know her. She needs a change of glasses - me-thinks she resembles Simon Bates! That wasn't intended to offend, incidentally - I just saw a likeness.

I enjoyed Christine's garden too. Her relationship with her neighbour was delightful. Was it Reg?

To my surprise I enjoyed her Great British Gardens Revival piece on bedding plants.

I say surprise because her spots on Gardeners World are often so awful that I actually have to turn the volume off until she's finished.

I think it's when she's reading from the autocue. Her delivery can be so over the top and stuffed with superlatives that it makes me cringe. This is a general GW affliction, but Christine is possibly the worst, she makes Rachel De Thame seem almost watchable.

But when she's talking conversationally about what she's doing or showing her natural enthusiasm in discussions with other gardeners, Christine seems really nice.

                  .
I think you may have muddled her up with Carol Kline ? Christine Walkden is very very rarely any where near gardener's world - more's the pity!

No, Carol Kline does have a similar, irritating over-exuberance though. Maybe someone in the production team goes through all the scripts and puts extra adjectives in? But when they appear on Chelsea or Hampton Court programmes it's just the same.

I like Carol and Christine's enthusiasm and both appear to actually know what they're talking about rather than just talking the usual rubbish

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Saw her on the telly the other night for the first time and enjoyed hearing what she had to say.

Likewise, I had assumed "aye, great..." but she quickly won me over

I just wish Carol wouldn't laugh at stuff that's not funny!
This is coming from someone VERY EASILY AMUSED. But when she says something like "Look, an oak tree" and giggles in the middle of it.... grrrr...
My daughter can't watch her without screwing her face up and putting a cushion over her ears!
