Well I've been done up like a kipper, I had an email through the other day about hiring a motorhome for the half term, I looked into it and thought that looks like good value. All in all it was about £400 for a week camping and vehicle hire.
We go camping a lot during the summer but I would never take our trailer tent away at this time of year as its far too cold and wet and I'd never get the thing dry again. So the thought of trying our a motorhome really appealed, I paid my deposit yesterday afternoon which had to be the full amount as it was so close to half term, and waited for the confirmation to come through.
It did about 3.30 yesterday afternoon, I sat done last night to read it and alarm bells started to ring, what I'd paid was likely to be the tip of the iceberg by the time I returned the vehicle.
I've cancelled it this morning but they wont return any of my money as under distance selling they are providing a time restricted service and are not obliged to.
Sometimes you stand back and wonder how could I be so stupid, I run a business and as such expect a certain approach from other businesses one which is generally fair to both parties, this firm does not follow these rules at all, you could say that you live and learn but inevitably at some point in my life it will happen again. Unscrupulous companies rely on the fact that the majority of individuals do not read the terms and conditions.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

I'm totally allergic to the idea of parties if I'm the celebrated one / centre of attention - especially surprise parties or other surprises. Having said that, I've been to a few 'surprise' parties for others, organised by their families and I enjoyed them - they were a great success. But that wouldn't appeal to me for myself. It depends on whether the person concerned likes the whole idea of surprises and whether they are OK with the event of turning up at e.g. the local community centre dressed to clear and paint the place and found everyone else dressed up, made up and looking beautiful. Believe me, some people have enjoyed being surprised like that!

The family have sometimes asked me what I'd like for my birthday, I say a bottle of wine, an Indian meal, the remote control and - let the rest of you go out and give me the house to myself.
I think maybe I'm turning into a Grumpy Old Woman (or am already there).

The thought of a surprise party even sounds appealing at the moment, my birthday is going to feel tinged with a lot of other emotions this year.
