  • Baking help please..asap!!!

PANIC!!!!.....Just about to put my shortbread into the oven.....

should they be on a cold tray or a hot tray( oven temperature) for the best result????

the 'paste' has been in the fridge for 30 mins and it's ready for rolling)

When I was a kid it went in a cold cake tin - just checked the Good Housekeeping Step by step cookbook - makes no mention of heating the tray first.

    Good luck!

PS - no responsibility for the result is accepted and no claims will be entertained.......

Yes i do mine on a cold tray, I have found the bottoms cook fastest so heating the tray would just accelerate that. Made two gorgeous madeira cakes today with glace cherries in. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm

I make the shortbread we sell at work, cold tray and I don't chill it either. I think everyone makes it differently and it still turns out delicious

It's nice with cinnamon sugar sprinkled on when just out of the oven. Mmmmm. Must grab a bit tomorrow to have with a cuppa.

I have several wooden shortbread moulds. I can never get the uncooked moulded shortbread out of them - not even using quick-release spray. I've tried everything.

                              I love shortbread.

If you do ever actually get any that goes a bit stale (some chance normally!) I love it crumbled into soft ice cream with caramel and nuts poured on top
