B and Q are selling off big bags of daffodil bulbs at £1 each could I plant em out now and nip off the flower stems or will they keep in cold storage till autumn, seems a shame to see them go to waste.

I would plant them. Provided the bulbs have not shrivelled up I reckon they will come up OK ... in a year, or maybe two, I doubt you'd be able to tell the different between them and [insert posh bulb brand name!]'s best

If they have been sat in B&Q for months they may well be shrivelled though? particularly if they are in a warm area

I only planted mine out a couple of weeks ago.
They will certainly grow so long as they are haven't shrivelled or rotted ( have a good squeeze of the bulbs) , but may not flower this year.
As Kristen says, next year they will flower as usual.

I don't know, but I think they will try to flower this year - i.e. flower bud is already formed in the bulb??

If that is the case I would take the flower off, as the O/P mentioned, so it can maximise building up the bulb for next year. Some Potash would help with helping the bulb to build up for next/future years.

For a quid I would take a chance... If they seem dry, dunk em in a bucket of water for a few mins, then try potting em up in tubs of used potting compost in the greenhouse
