  • Members?

Just looking through the March mag, and it stated the Forum had over 57,000 members, and I'm wondering who they are, I've seen posts from maybe 100, so who are the other 56, 900? Anyone know ? Where are they hiding?

I name that member in 2....

Am I one of the 100, or one of the 56,900 Dotty?

I think if you haven't been active for more than 12 months then you should be classed as inactive and after a further 12 months removed from the database. If you haven't been on here for 2 years you are unlikely to return and if you do you can always start again.

    Just a thought

Let's assume over time that 30% have lost their password, 30% got bored and never came back, 30% are busy on other forums. How many does that leave? 5,700. OK, half of the remaining lot have given up gardening. 2,850. Half are abroad and our gardening techniques don't apply. 1,425. Half again took exception to something and vowed never to return. 715. half find family commitments no longer leave them time to come and say Hi. 358. Half haven't paid their broadband bill 179. At any one time 79 people are away on holiday. Bingo, there's your 100, Dotty

Well, I was beginning to run out of ideas and excuses.

I suppose I could have said only a third are online at any one time. That would leave 60. And checking, that's about how many are online now

Interesting thoughts, I can't work out the number thing, am sure you are right tho! I was just surprised at the high number of members, 57,000 +, even allowing for those who only visit once! passwords are a real pain I must say, so I don't actually log off, use the App, most of the time. Interesting thoughts.

But if a third are online at any time, a third of 57.000 ? How many is that? I dunno, but a lot. And is more than 60.

Anyway back to my mag, see what other gems I can share.

I assumed spammers and other undesirables would be removed from the members list. Or would that just allow them to re-join?

No, a third of 179 (allowing for not dividing one person into three )

Can you still do that these days, how is it achieved exactly....not that I'm taking notes.

I can only divide bodies into quarters, and only then if I have enough sweet bags.

Right now there are 1626 "guests" perusing the forums - people who are not members, so at that rate, over 8 or so years, 365 days and 24 hours a day, 57,000 clicking the register button doesn't really work out at that many, less than 10,000 per year, and that's globally , not just the UK of course.

                            Shouldn't that be body bags?

On a tangent, when I went deep water sailing with 14 other folk, the insurance company insisted we needed to take a body bag for every person on board (Well, accidents happen, don't they), at which the skipper retorted, "OK, and will the last bag have a zipper on the inside then?"

Sorry Dotty. Actually I'm fairly cr@p at maths too, but have my trusty calculator to hand to divide by 2 each time

                              I can't resist a challenge but I wasn't being serious about it
