Not really making a point, just found it vaguely interesting.
I would say it must be more than a couple of people, more like 55,000!

I'm going now, not saying another word!

Only a couple of the first page of top posters though which is what I was trying to say.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I miss Flum, she's never really posted much since she lost her old mum . Hope she's OK and just very busy doing her book thing.

I think it just shows that you can pretty much prove anything you want with statistics. There are any number of ways you could count the number of members there is a tendency to use the figure which best suits your purposes.

I prefer to grill my spam or deep fry in batter LD, I tried it nuked once but it was kinda chewy on the edges. I must admit I prefer Pek though.

Seems normal, on another forum I see that many of the "members" actually joined and then have never posted at all.

I do sometimes think that if a member has posted say less then 5 times and the last post was say 2 years ago that the account should be deleted and the name made available.

It is not actually unusual as you will find that if an email account is not used it is deleted and it inactivity period is often just 90 days.

Well I suppose that by keeping all member accounts & threads (including those not/rarely used) can be handy for the owners to do statistical analysis over an extended period of time:
Number of members joining in a particular month
Threads opened/responded to during a particular season
                        Most talked about veg'/fruit
                        etc,etc
Enough pondering & onto the more important question, who has the most packets of seeds
He who smiles in the face of adversity, has already decided who to blame

Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity

I don't think that usernames can be reused.

What would happen to the 5 posts they had made? - and other folk's messages that have Quoted some piece with "Originally Posted by XXX"?

I think it would be confusing if the username could be reallocated unless all that tangential stuff was also tidied up. There might be messages where people say "I think that XXX is a twit" or "How is XXX's new baby" - which could be embarrassing for the new owner of the username (who presumably chose it, when they registered, assuming it was "unused")

Inactive users with zero posts could be deleted - but spammers accounts may need to be kept in order to prevent their email address being used to re-register and waste MODs time all over again. (Could have a blacklist of email addresses for that purpose, instead of sacrificing a username)

I don't know what happens in 100 years time though when all user names have been used up!
