  • Yoghurt pot ideas

Ok so I've been collecting yoghurt pots not the little ones the 500g greek pots, and I was wondering if you had any suggestions as to their use.

I kept some to start off long rooted veg so as to not disturb their roots when transplanting out, but can you think of other uses for them around the garden, I have a nice collection building, OH gets through at least 2-3 pots a week.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

This sounds like a 'Bluepeter Challenge', I'm thinking of a suitable use for all these yogurt pots.

I shall be watching this thread with interest 'cos i never know what to do with them either, and eventually dump the lot in the recycling bin and start a new collection. It's just a hobby....

I was wondering how you make trainers out of yoghurt pots, unless they are designed for ballet dancers.

Nice thread VC, in conclusion does it make for a healthier plant?

I collect them too - is there a name for our hobby? Yogurtology?
Anyway, uses off the top of my head (No Mikey, not dandruff collecting )
Mini propagators for individual pots :-
............either upending the clear pots over your plantpot,
............or put plantpot inside yogpot and seal.
Put water in yogpot and plantpot inside it. You can watch it take up water - great for a dull day when you're bored.

Give me 5 minutes and I'll think of more

My pots aren't clear VC they are white plastic, I was thinking you could use two pots and upend a clear one on top of a non clear one to create your mini propogators.

You'll also have to switch brands so you get clear pots

                            1) Slow waterer - sink one in soil/compost almost up the the rim with very fine holes in so water seeps through slowly

                            2) Slug torture chamber - salt the rim like a margarita glass before putting a slug inside

                            3) Worlds worst wind chimes

                            4) Forcing pot for watercress ... might work

                            5) Put over protruding branches in the garden when working round them so you don't poke your eye out

                            6) Make clippyclop horsey noises by banging two empty pots together to confuse the neighbours

                            7) Polymer age string telephone to alert your next door neighbour that it's raining ... or that the ice cream van is here

                            8) Hat for sweetcorn

                            9) Use three inverted pots as a tripod for plants which aren't growing quickly, in order to elevate them so they don't get a complex about their height

                            10) Disposable parking sensor. Turn one upside down and place where you want your back wheels to stop. When reversing stop when crunching plastic is inverted pot, and before crunching plastic is rear bumper. NOTE: Used behind someone elses car who isn't aware of disposable parking sensor deployment may cause panic and distress of car driver, or black eye of disposable parking sensor operative. Sensor may prove ineffective in windy weather
