    We've had a rather wet January here too so there is plenty of moisture around to make for a good misty sunrise!

                Absolutely stunning. Must make any downsides of living where you do seem piddlingly insignificant. Thanks for posting such a wonderful picture. Certainly beats the overcast wet gloom here.

                (I'm now using it as desktop background so I'm going to see it every day for a while)

                    Thanks for your kind words. It looked even better when Mr PP first rolled up the shutters and went WOW! By the time I'd got dressed, been to the loo, found the camera and fed two cats that clearly were on the point of starvation, it looked like that - there had been more contrast and depth.

                          "The crack of dawn",looking out to sea from Funchal,the sun rising over the Deserta Islands but under a heavy cloud ....





                          Same shot 5 min's later .....






                          The Islands now clearly visible,on the islands (uninhabited nature reserves) the is a giant carrot,roots well over a foot long & with foliage in excess of four feet,but try as hard as I can it seems impossible to get any seeds

                              We have a lovely view of a building site at the moment, which resembles a scene from the Battle of Ypres!
