Well, we cut his feeds to 2 from 3. Omitted chews, and hopefully salt. Trained him at 5 minutes a go, a couple of times and also he had his usual walks. Last night - no wee! But he was sick! He'll be checked at the vets. His teeth are all out Pots, he has stuff to chew on - mainly us!

I don't have enough knowledge to offer much advise Ancee but a couple of things sprung to my mind.
1.) Has your routine changed since the wetting? I know my pup can have accidents if his normal routine changes and he get a little anxious.
2.) Is the cage big enough for him now to be shut in all night?, my pup is 9 months now and is shut in the utility room 2 x 2 metres at night but not in his cage anymore, though he still likes to sleep in the cage.
3.) I would also ask is he getting enough exercise, I know the general rule of thumb is 2 half hour walks a day for a rotty, but is that enough for your dog. Is he tired after a walk?
I Know its a different breed but my springer spanial is off lead for around 2 hours a day, and the only things he chews in the house is his bed and the back door mat, he sleeps all day long on the kitchen sofa, and I could leave him and go out for several hours without any qualms.
4.) Finally is he left out all day or does he ask to go out, I was just wondering if he's holding it in and forgetting to go like a child does!! Do you have a command to make him go to the toilet? in the evening, my dog knows when I want him to go as my OH trained him to wee by saying 'wish wish' when he was going to the bathroom. Now I can open the door in the evening and say come on Max wish wish and he knows what I want him to do.I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

I'd say that you try not letting him have access to water before bed. If you feed him at say, 6pm, and he has water down until 7, then remove it. Keep an eye on him until bedtime and don't let him toilet or go out beforehand. Make him hold it for a while, then give him a walk outside and watch that he goes. Then bring him in and put him in his crate for the night. If he has open access he may be guzzling away before bedtime. I'd also suggest giving him a decent dry food, such as burns, and not any tinned stuff (it's better for them and their teeth too). On a positive note, if he's 6 months he's still learning and my best guess would be simply that he's drinking too much before bedtime. With mine, I let them out once after dinner at 6.30 then don't let them out until bedtime. If I do, their toilet clock is all out of synch coz they will have gone at 7 and 7.30. Hope this helps.Sanity is for those with no grasp of reality

I am in the vet camp, and please get him off Bakers and on to a better quality dog food.
We also used Arden Grange until a recent price hike, so our second choice is Spillers Field and Trial. It costs about 28 quid for a 15 kg bag at the country store. You feed 100g per day, per 8kg of dog weight.
Have you done anything differently recently? Moved his crate, or changed the heating settings in the house with it being colder? Could be a wee change has put him out of sorts. He could even have a wee chill...
Most importantly, try not to worry too much, and take him to the vetsLast edited by out in the cold; 03-02-2014, 07:54 PM.Quanti canicula ille in fenestra ?

I also would take a trip to the vet. I wouldn't restrict his water, but would measure how much he drinks i.e. put a measured amount in his bowl, refill when empty and keep a tally of how much you have put down. (edit: and keep the toilet lids down!) Also, if you can bear it, get up in the night to wake him and let him out to pee, as you would with a child that wets the bed.
If his urine is pale and has no smell it may indicate it is very dilute and he is drinking more than normal, which could have a number of causes.Last edited by mothhawk; 03-02-2014, 06:35 PM.Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land

Even young dogs once they have been trained to go out, will cry or bark when they need to wee rather than simply wet the bed. I would say it is essential to consult a vet as it sounds like it could be some kind of bladder or kidney disease which is provoking this problem. There are websites where you can get some very good professional advice on dogs too, in return for ten dollars or so, but even if they tell you what it probably is, you will STILL need to take the dog to the vet, so I'd do that as soon as possible.

Had to give him a chew back today as he was chewing himself He has been played with, walked and pretty much constantly occupied today, I think he just likes to make me panic. "What's he doing now? Why is it quiet? Where is the puppy? What is that noise?" He even tried to drink bleach today - he's a complete psycho!Last edited by Nicos; 03-02-2014, 08:54 PM.You may say I'm a dreamer...
