  • Winter Olympics

Anyone interested in this? I must admit, Winter Sports is my thing - can't stand the likes of football, etc..

Google's logo today is brilliant too (with the whole gay rights dodah).

Yes, love winter sports - from the comfort of my chair! Hopefully some of it will be shown on the 'normal' channels, as we don't have satellite or freesh!te.

I've loved it since I was a kid and we used to sit down to a picnic tea on the floor in the lounge on a sunday. Ski Sunday 5pm ish. Loved, franz klammer, zurbriggen, in later years tomba al bomba.

I don't get to watch it much these days, but I think thats more to do with programming than anything else. Only terrestrial here no sky nonsense.

Looking forward to watching it all, with the exception of figure skating perhaps. I liked it in the days of robin cousins and torvill and dean, but tv was less adrenalin pumped then and it all seems so tame these days.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Sorry to buck the trend but the Beeb's tedious trailer has sapped any enthusiasm I may have had.

Will be avoiding as much as possible. To my mind what a waste of time and money.

In case you are assuming I'm a big fat couch potato who hates exercise I'm not, I just fail to see the point of the Olympics (or similar).

Why waste so much money? Watching other people play sports is just boring....and yes I enjoy skiing myself.

All the people that sit and watch sport should get out and exercise instead.

I'm just watching the opening ceremony and I am really enjoying it. I used to enjoy Ski Sunday too Mikey Franz Klammer, now that's a name I haven't heard in a while . Looking forward to watching the curling.

Yes, I loved Ski Sunday too. Did anyone follow 'The Jump' recently? Daft but enjoyable, and I have admiration for what the 'Slebs' achieved. Graham Bell inspired them, and I think he did a great job.

Which reminds me, I used to have 'a bit of a thing' for his Brother.

Very interested indeed. 4 of our former pupils are competing in the cross country skiing. The whole team in this event are local to us.

The two that I know are nice lads, so I will be cheering them on. Muzzy even has an outside chance of a medal...

Great opening ceremony, I hope to catch some of the events but won't be making a special thing of it. Conflict with the rugby means I have to ration my allocated time in front of the box - I know I could record it but I have a life to enjoy as well.

Will watch bits of it but can't get anywhere near as excited as I was about the summer Olympics. Don't really like the skating (it's the equivalent of gymnastics to me, very talented to do it but the scoring seems so random and not definitive like in a race) but some of the skiing is pretty good.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I have my own winter olympics to contend with, just going out into a hurricane to get milk.

Yes,I actually prefer the Winter Olympics to the summer one.
Managed to get a pile of ironing done whilst watching the opening ceremony too

Having done years of regular ice skating lessons and quite a few ski holidays I think I can relate a bit more to the winter sports.

Summer Olympics reminds me of school where as Winter Olympics reminds me of holidays for some reason!
