Saw some of the stunt snow boarding jumpy / twisty thing this morning, amazing what they can do but have absolutely no idea what the commentators were on about 99% of the time and the marking system seemed very strange.

Used to watch it but lost interest some years ago. Couldn't see anything in the snowboarding stuff, and the mogul sking the same.

Possibly getting more towards only events where a distance or time can be measured, not where an opinion and a mark given. Seen too many where the result has been a little suspect.

I think that anything that requires judges to give marks for style, artistic impression or "general impression" shouldn't be called a sport.

Ski jumping, for instance, should be just about how far you go through the air.

That slopestyle does look fun though.

The difficulty with distance in ski jumping how do you create balance for those that have a head wind or a tail wind. The speed and direction can have a massive impact on distance. Seems a bit unfair to judge solely on distance until you remove the elements from the equation and make it an indoor sport.

What I like most about the winter olympics is that its still predominantly made up of amateur sports and the lack of large funding has ensured that in most cases it the love of it rather than the profession.

I loved watching the cross country the other day, having tried it the hills they scale are mind boggling.

Well, I managed to gain the accolade of best teacher ever today, because I gave the kids in my first year class the option of doing the classwork at home and watching the local lads live on telly via my whiteboard...

To say the noise levels were up when Muzzy qualified for the quarter finals is an understatement.
