  • Printer Help, Please!

We have a new printer, got it at Christmas. It's an HP Deskjet 2540.

Can some one tell me why it prints everything twice? If you ask for two copies, you'll get four. There is nothing on the printer dashboard or wherever I'm printing on to say that I want, or it's going to print, two copies.

I can't find anything in the manual, or online.

    Anyone had this problem?

I'd say it was a driver issue, Jules (although I'm not familiar with HP deskjets). Until someone with a bit more experience comes along to help, you could try uninstall the printer, install the driver from the cd, then plug the printer back in.

Oh - what version of windows are you running there?

Don't know if this helps Jules.

      Go to "printers and faxes."
Right click on your printer and select "Printing preferences."
      Select "Advanced" tab
      Double click "paper output"
If "Copy count=2" then change to 1 and apply
IF IT ALREADY IS SET TO 1 THEN:
      Set "copy count=2" then APPLY
Repeat the above and now set "copy count=1"

BM, I had checked all that.

Thanks to a vine member on FB we've sussed it. I had to find a box labelled 'enable bidirectional printing' and uncheck it.

Three hours I'd been faffing about before that fab advice came along!!

Get off the floor, you'll get piles.

HP were useless on the phone, AP.
