  • Smelly Me

in line with the thread on smelly compost, I've started this thread rather than tangentise the compost thread. Yes I'm running a temperature.

Some of you will have seen my earlier thread about a leaking pond liner. Well today I went along to empty the pond of water, vegetation and livestock.

Thirty one frogs, numerous insects a number of water lilies and other vegetation and loads of stinking gunge and the pond is empty. No sign of a hole but customer wants a new liner anyway so that isn't an issue.

However, the gunge from the bottom of the pond was rank and it was impossible to keep it off my clothes. End result, I was absolutely stinking. My clothes are now in the washing machine and I've been through the car wash (shower). I still smell it though .

Diverting a little, I've heard and read many times that frogs will only stay in ground without chemicals.
I wonder does anyone know whether this is true.

I hope you left the 'gunk' in a pile, ready to put some back in the newly-lined pond!?

I used to have to empty a 22000 gallon lagoon filled with runny poultry manure, I sucked it out with a tanker then sprayed it on the fields, I got most of it on me and beleive me it stunk, people 5 miles away would compllain. The beauty of it was, when i went down the chip shop for lunch the huge que disapeared in seconds.

It's probably left a trace of the smell inside your nasal cavity?
I used to get that when I'd worked with formaldehyde preserved things. No-one else could smell it when I got home....but it did linger.
                        Try snuffing up saline?

Tis just a thought...maybe you do in fact stink after all???? Think you need to ask someone close to you

I got nettle tea down my clothes last year. OITC wouldn't come near me Even after I showered and changed he said he could still smell it!
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
