I think the low point for me was when the voice over explained what jam was, not how you make it but what it actually is. I appreciate curds might be less well known but us there really anybody out there that's not come across jam?

I agree with the point about rushing through the year, they went from totally blank plots (with a bucket of worms) to fully growing plots in 10 mins. I assumed an allotment comp would involve something about how they planned their plots etc but maybe that will come later. Would be interesting to hear if the worms added worms simply legged it to more suitable soil or if the imported poo made much difference, was it added to all beds or just some? So many questions that I feel won't get answered and I can't see how it would equip anybody to gave a go if they haven't already.

Am guessing a book may be on the way?!?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

But that's true of everything and there isn't anything that fills the gap in the way of intelligent programming

There's one out already, heard Fern B talking about it on TV earlier in the week.

1 hour to show me 3 radish .some flowers and jam.pff. all in the style of all the other "great british" programmes. not at all impressed...but as others have said..if it motivates people then its a bonus

Agree with the comments above. I was really looking forward to seeing the plots develop but it seems a bit gimmicky .Some of the jam/ curd combos looked interesting and now we know how to tie pretty posies! Would be good to have a more serious allotment series and would have thought that it would be 'fashionable enough' with the grow your own enthusiasm at the moment to have a decent audience. The only one I remember seeing is one Carol klien did 'grow your own veg'

                      Disjointed and uninspiring.
Nice to see Mapledurham - I grew up within walking/cycling/horseriding distance. But I don't think I'll bother again.

It wasn't quite what I expected, but I'll watch it again. Bit of a let-down in terms of the veg growing, but I did like the bouquet test and the sweet peas. I wonder did the cookery judge feel sick after eating so many spoons of jam and curd.
Hoping they'll show more of the cultivation side in coming weeks and not go overboard on the 'tears and tantrums' angle.

"Perfect" radishes, judged on everything but flavour, wasn't really what I expected at all but I'll keep watching no doubt.
