Is it Scaffolders Debris netting? If so, sadly, not fine enough to keep carrot fly out. need the (expensive) Enviromesh, or equivalent, for a 100% safe solution to those blighters, and I don't think a "wall" is enough so mine has a "roof" as well.
I think the risk starts when Cow Parsley starts to flower (or am I mixing that up with cabbage root fly? )
Yes you are right as they belong to the same family Umbelliferae.
Last time I sowed carrots I had completely failed to notice all the pretty cow parsley in the hedge next to it!big problem with carrot fly here and have to completely cover with environmesh and dig the sides of it under soil. Not a sign of it the first year.
