furious, stupid plastic greenhouses!

I have had loads of seedlings destroyed because of the stupid plastic greenhouse!

I bought one of them 6 foot ones that was reduced to £20 in bnm and I put my kale and a few other pots and trays etc etc in there and made sure there was a decent weight on the shelves. I got it on Sunday and by Tuesday afternoon it had took off down the garden! Some stuff survived but others are just obliterated. I was so mad I took it all to bits stuffed it in the packet and took it back to bnm, I got my money back but that does not account for all the seeds I've lost.

I've got a metal lean to now ready to go up but I'm still mad.

It was a grow your own 6x4 plastic greenhouse I cant seem to find who makes them as when I do Ill be sending one angry email in.
If anyone can help me out in finding who makes them that would be great.

Why is such crap made if they cant do the job properly?

The problem with blowaways is that they really do need anchoring down or attaching to fences.

Although I sympathise with you you got to have a positive!

Positive being it's still early and plenty of time to get sowing 'n' growing.

Hope your feeling less angry tomorrow I'm sure I'd feel the same as you if it had happened to me though

They are no doubt made by "one flew hi" in china and he really doesnt give a tinkers cuss about your valued seeds. I am afraid the old maxim "Let the buyer beware applies here.

I have two for hardening off seedlings ...but they are weighted down with bricks on all shelves .

Haha Im ok. I tied it down with pegs and was tied to the the fence to, and at first I wondered if the neighbour had been out and ripped it up.. Im still a bit unsure as my 2x4 was still standing ok and thought if she was gonna do one she would do them both. I dunno.

Im not to fussed about the kale any ways as I have learned its horrible :O
My tomatoes and pineapple berry seedling were ok so Im happy with that.

Hi, I know the feeling. I have a blow away and last year it did just that about April time so I ended up having to buy a load of stuff from the garden centre.
Now have it tied to a fence with two bags of top soil and some heavy tools in the bottom.

I used to secure mine to the drainage pipe at the back of my house. Used some washing line to attach one of the legs to the pipe, then placed a couple of large bricks on each shelf. It did the trick. My problem was as soon as I was putting it up I ripped the plastic in 3 places!!! Never felt plastic that was so flimsy. I had to selotape it together lol

I've got one too more of a cold frame than what greenhouse
It's not one of them stand up ones

On 2 sides it's surrounded by a high fence . I've out a few breeze blocks around the other side so It's well secure. Inside I've out some of that clear plastic sheeting so provides a solid roof that cannot flap about with a few bricks on the corner doors

Neighbour up the street has had problems with high winds
Has what looks like a simple rope over the too to weight his plastic greenhouse down

Hopefully and eventually I might get a proper greenhouse of the wife agrees

have you tasted it, or just been told it's 'horrible'? It's not, it's very nice stir fried in a Chinese dressing

I agree totally, this cheap plastic cr@p is churned out by China, then ends up in British landfill

Almost anything sold in the £ shops might as well be simply buried right outside the shop, none of it is made to last more than a few weeks. The shops don't care, the Govt doesn't care: it's all good economic activity (consumerism), and the polluter doesn't have to pay (for disposal)

Almost anything sold in the £ shops might as well be simply buried right outside the shop, none of it is made to last more than a few weeks.

They can get rid of all the tat & replace it with bulbs.........excellent value.
