Selling surplus plants at garden gate

Just down the road from my girlie in Cornwall someone sells flowers from an honesty box and has done for years so it must work. I'd rather have a little faith in human nature and have a go. What have you got to lose?

Thanks, peeps, for your ideas. The locals here aren't likely to nick the plants or honesty box but the money through the letterbox idea I like. Unfortunately not enough friends/neighbours/family locally to give plants away to. As Patchninja says, what have I got to lose but surplus plants?
