  • Who would you want to visit your garden?

My daughter went on a trip to a farm yesterday. So we had the conversation on baby animals and what they grow into.
Then we discussed wild animals then fictional animal. Well you know what my daughter is like.
But then I thought to my self a good question to open out to everyone is:
Who would you like to visit your garden or allotment for a cuppa or a quick chat?
It can be a real person for a fictional person.
Or is there anyone you would hide behind or in a compost bin to avoid?

Anyone who understand the structure of soil on a micro level, anyone with an in depth knowledge of fungus, anyone who specialises in pruning fruit trees, anyone carrying a tray of seeds, anyone with a flask of tea, anyone with a grin on their face, anyone looking for work, anyone wearing old clothes and gloves, anyone at all.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

I wouldn't turn Carol Vordeman out of my shed.

I would loved to have had a chat and a wander round the garden with Geoff Hamilton and I would love to be able to show my Grandad my allotment. Sadly neither with us anymore.

All the people, no longer around, who encouraged me when I was young. I still remember an "old boy" down on an allotment that my Mother managed to find when I was about 12 who fascinated me with his collection of Chrysanthemum and Dahlia cuttings in a rickety make-shift greenhouse - probably around about this time of the year, as I would like to hear their views on how I am shaping up after all these years Neither of my parents were gardeners, but they encouraged me none the less. I'm sure they must have thought I should have been out spending my pocket money on wine, women and song! when I bought a greenhouse with it all - aged about 14 or 15.

Other than that I'd appreciate the comments, thoughts and eloquent humour of Christo Lloyd, and although my garden is large compared to many, it would be small on their scale, but the thinking of Capability Brown and Humphrey Repton would be interesting to hear

Actualy I'll cancel Carol Vordeman and go for my Dad instead. Whatever I did (and I tried very hard) he could never find it in his heart to praise me for a job well done. It probably did me good but it hurt at the time and I would like him to see my home and garden now.

I agree with you, I'd love someone to come and tell me what to do, what to plant, and help me to do it.

Like Bill, I'd love to be able to walk round my garden with my dad. He died over twenty years ago but it was he who encouraged me to grow vegetables when I was just a nipper and he would really enjoy seeing how I am doing.
