Just because one makes x amount of posts, we are blessed with the "Gardening Guru" tag which I personally dislike as I am more of an "Experienced Beginner". I think these labels can be misleading to new members & wish I could have mine removed. What do you think of these tags.

I don't really have much of an idea, what most grapes 'are', unless you look especially you aren't aware. For me it's the 'names' I see and am familiar with, that means a lot, rather than the tag.Last edited by Dorothy rouse; 10-04-2014, 09:30 PM.DottyR

Aww bless your cotton gorilla socks, BM - by the time you have posted that number of posts, and inspired so many new gardeners and experienced gardeners with your ideas and findings - why would anyone quibble at the title 'guru'? Chill and enjoy - it means you are a good communicator with some solid grow fruit and veg experience behind you!Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I too think its all a bit daft but in the scale of world issues it doesn't seem worth worrying about, its not like we're doing brain surgery
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Yup, think Alison has hit the nail on the head!
Yes, it's daft if you consider that actually I'm a novice when it comes to veg gardening, but hey ho!Last edited by Glutton4...; 11-04-2014, 08:11 AM.All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

My view is that I think that a "badge" could be awarded to posters whose opinions are respected - e.g. awarded/rescinded at the gift of The Powers That Be.
On another gardening forum I frequent there are a number of people with 10,000+ posts, but most of those were gained posting in the Social Forums there. They may also have in depth gardening knowledge ... but they may not ... so all that having a high number of posts says is that you have posted a lot But ... that is how all forums work, so its not a surprise as such.
My view is that people who don't know much about it post things like "I did X and it worked for me" even though the stallwarts know that that is not good advice for Newbies. However, if "X" sounds like the East Route there is a high chance that Newbies will choose to take that advice The person who posted that hasn't tried anything else, and doesn't know that the method they are suggesting is not a good idea. Thus I think a "badge" might help Newbies attach more weight to posts with a n appropriate badge ... otherwise they are just going to go on Post Count eh Bigmally?
But I have no strong views on this, and as I said in my other post this is not my Gaff, and I am happy with whatever The Powers That Be decide.K's Garden blog the story of the creation of our garden
