Do you think its ok to sublet your plot to friends or family ?

Would you or do you sublet part or all of your plot to make a profit

Should a tenants partner be able to take over a
Tenancy after a tenant has died or moved on.

Or just share the plot and the produce?
If someone can't manage their plot - and there is a waiting list - it should be given up IMO.

Im to selfish to share my plot. as for subletting to make money...totaly defeating the object in my opnion.if a freind wants a bit of land i would comprimise and do what i did...i said..i dont want you messin my garden up and claiming bits left right and center. I will do my normal gardening and dedicate 1 row or a set quantity of veg in exchange for (whatever skill the person has) in my case it was mechanics.

... and if someone is concerned about their partner taking over the plot when/if they die, then perhaps it would be prudent to change the names in the tenancy (if that is allowed ) before the unhappy event?

Allotments should never ever be sub-let for money. This is totally against the principle of allotments, and forbidden by most (if not all) contracts.

I get "help" on my allotment from my daughter and the grandchildren but it's not sub-let to them and I am always with them when they visit.

If a tenancy is put in joint names at the start then surely if one partner dies, the other can carry on if they wish to.
