  • views from my garden this weekend

The Biggin Hill air fair has been on this weekend and I thought I would share some of the pics from my back garden.

The noise from some of these aircraft is defining and think I may have to go for a hearing test.

    hope you enjoy these

Where I you'st to live in Cheshire, we had the Red Arrows regularly flying right over the house, usualy at weekends. I presume we were on one of their regular flight paths. Where I live now in North Wales, we don't often get the Arrows coming over, we just get the even noisier low flying jets from Anglesey! AGGHHH!!!

Thanks for the pics Terrier. When I lived in Argyll we got the jets flying over on their low flying exercises. The noise was dreadful and I didn't always feel safe. Glad I don't have them now. I suppose it's the benefit of living in a more populated area.

We get the helicopters from the European School of Navigation at Shawbury near Shrewsbury. Sometimes there are 7 of them balleting around at 50 feet. Noisy, but rather fascinating. The jets from Anglesey also go over, as do the Nimrods on occasions, all at very low level.
None of these are as bad as when we lived near John Lennon (Speke) airport. Then we had planes coming in all hours of the day and night.
        Superb pics though!

Thanks for the pics Percy - it must be quite stunning, if a little noisy. I know Shawbury well Palustrus as my brother works there (helicopters! - so blame him!).

We are the line up in certain wind directions for the runway at Tingwall where all the inter island flights come in and out (not the ones to the Mainland thankfully). The small planes used sound quite spectacular and sometimes when gardening I can almost feel I'm in a World War II film! We occasionally get the RAF fighter jets flying low over the island, but not very often.

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn't know that so it goes on flying anyway.

All I get is QueasyJet on the way to and from Luton.

                    Cheers for the photos.
Where we live is right beside RAF Tain Live Bombing Range and we have Tornados, F16's etc etc etc from UK, Europe and US of A every day of the week except Sunday from 9 in the morning until they get bored - sometimes all night through the night too.
The only reason that we get peace on a Sunday is that's the day the bomb disposal team get to practice on all the UXB's !!
Our consolation for this daily bombardment - we get the Red Arrows and the Falcon Parachute display team every year for our local gala. - I'd rather they double glazed the house !!

guess we are just lucky where we live dont really get any aircraft noise from consumer flights, summer comes and we get the small aircraft flying from biggin Hill during the weekend.

The air show is on every year but we dont always get such good views of the planes depends on the weather I think.

Took me quite a few goes to catch the red arrows tho, got lots of pics of smoke trails.
