  • Really good news today

    Hi,
I know we aren't Netmom website but I had some good news about my little boy.
He has been accepted into the school we wanted him into. Such a relief as we didn't know if he'd get in with his speech problem.
Now comes the hard work getting everyone working together so he gets the support he needs.
I am so going to live even more down the allotment with the stress of it all.

Well done. I hope the dear little chap will be happy there.
Pain is still pain, suffering is still suffering, regardless of whoever, or whatever, is the victim.
    Everything is worthy of kindness.

Have already met with the headmistress and she has said once they knew little boy was with them then they would set the ball rolling getting as much support possible for him.
Just a bit of a worry for us as its such a step up for him.

Once a school takes a child on their roll, most of them do everything they can for them. After all, that is what their job is!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

Glad to hear you got the school of your choice, but am curious to know why you thought his speech problem would be a barrier to getting in. I'm assuming we're talking state primary, there is a strict set of criteria to apply and a special need can move children up the pecking order!

He went to a special language unit for a while. We had a meeting with them and they told us they thought he needed to go into their specialist language unit where all they do is speech. We said no because then he'd of fallen behind with his main stream education. Also this one person there basically character assassinated my boy verbally to us but also on paper to other units. So we had a fall out with them about that and other things.
Think its a mental thing that you think that you worry because you don't know what they have said to either education people or other people . I know its a bit paranoid.
But he has gone to his nursery for extra hours to help him mix with other children. Also they are doing a lot of work with him with phonics and other verbal skills.
