Yep- you have to move on, and I have to say I am impressed the police are involved.

Maybe alert the local newspaper? don't know if the arsonists will puff with pride or the extra awareness might help prevent future episodes???
The police had several vehicles going round the village on Sunday night apparently and visited during the event and met with us in the morning afterwards. They have been very helpful so far.

The Leicester paper have been on site and written a report and taken a few photo's- we were in two minds about it because the plots are quite discreet and many don't know they are there but the fire was so obvious that everyone knows anyway. It's been advertised/mentioned on Faceache as well which I have mixed views about but perhaps if it raises awareness and people keep their ears open may help I suppose?

It seems some folk just like to see things burn. I think sometimes they don't even realize the damage they are causing, or the cost of it, certainly they have no idea of the stress they cause.
Thanks mothhawk, I think your right, they don't understand or care maybe? That's what's good about the Grapevine- we don't really know each other, can often disagree, but we have an understanding. I really appreciate that

There has been some interesting research into why youngsters become arsonists, with evidence pointing to some very troubled backgrounds and maltreatment when young. The fire service has some great outreach programmes with youngsters like this.

As a kid, I can assure you I was no little angel. I was known to the police as a 'bit of a tearaway' especially on me motor bike, but I cannot, FOR THE LIFE OF ME, ever remember vandalising anything in any way becasue it was 'fun'. All I can say, mate, is Illegitmii nil carborundum!

Thoughtless, brainless and incredibly anger inducing. I think the majority of kids are wonderful, polite and socially aware but it doesn't take many to sully the reputation of a whole generation.

I can only hope that the grow up, wise up and make something of their lives whilst simultaneously regretting their foolishness for a very long time.

it's absolutely terrible. I think allotment committees should seriously consider setting up some "cctv": catch the beggars in the act, ID them & get them arrested.

We have this £100 one (half that on The Bay), it runs on AA batts, has night vision & is motion-triggered, waterproof, discreet.

Thanks TS I think your right and that looks great.
We are having a site meeting on Tuesday night so I will suggest it then. What is the image quality like? I know what it says on the link, but in your experience would faces be recognisable at night time?

Sorry to read about this, John.
Hopefully it will be resolved soon.
