I didn't particularly think it was, I just found the quote to be a sleazy remark (not so much when used as a quote but when originally said by somebody in a position of power)

I have read some pretty opinionated, bullying, sycophantic, vitriolic posts on this site, how do you think this looks to newcomers? I have nearly thrown in the towel (or trowel?) a few times myself, decided to hang on in there for the good things it has to offer.

So let's offer some more good things.

how do you think this looks to newcomers?

I'm fairly new here myself and although I haven't got a clue what has gone on, it's clear *something* has.

My first reaction is surprise tbh. Someone mentioned this site to me a while ago, specifically because it was a 'nice' site full of friendly like minded people who could discuss and interact with each other in a civil way without unpleasantness or sarcasm.

I'm a bit sad to see it's really just a forum like any other and people can't stop themselves from posting in a barbed way. Regardless of the rights or wrongs of whatever has happened, you can instantly tell who has 'attitude' simply from the style of posting and from the choice use of certain comments that are clearly meant to convey more than their simple face value would suggest.

BM was helpful to me when I arrived here (as were several others but we appear to be picking on BM at the moment ) and I enjoy his 'inventions'. I'll be sorry if he feels he can no longer come here but having been on the sharp end of the stick on more than one occasion on other sites, I completely understand how piddled off he must feel.

As for Bill, again I don't know what has been said about his MoMship but I'm surprised anyone felt the need to be negative about it (if indeed that was the case). I'm sure MoMships don't impact on anyone's real life (apart from Bill's who clearly like to milk things ) so such comments say more about the poster and their character than anything else, I think.

Hopefully this will all blow over.
