For quite a while I've been searching for a zip more than 30" long, with no success. I want long zips for duvet covers, they are so much easier than velcro or poppers or buttons.

Well, today I had a light-bulb moment - tent-making suppliers! Can you believe it, they sell moulded plastic zips on the roll - that is, by the metre! And only £2 a metre plus 60p for the slider. So then I goggled 'zip on a roll' and there's lots of choice out there. I feel stupid not to have thought of it before

That is so incredibly cheap, so I shall be knuckling down to make new duvet covers over the next weeks

    Good thinking MH
Could be useful for polytunnel repairs too - though how you get a polytunnel in a sewing machine is beyond me

I'd use duck tape VC It sticks anything (except duvet covers )

Dunelm also do the zipping by the mtr,in two sizes, chunky for the heavier stuff, and normal dress, you buy the sliders by the box, black, white and beige,i had some of the heavier stuff left after a job,so used the rest for fly zips when making MR's work pants,it has served much better,no more....these want new zips dear ,i hate replacing the darned things,

I buy the enveloipe-type duvet covers MH, no zips or buttons in sight, so much easier to put on and they don't slide off the bed because they tuck in at the bottom
